Position Summary:

The Accounts Payable Specialist is responsible for an organization's financial processing of transactions.Ensure that all bills are paid in an efficient and timely manner. The Accounts Payable Specialist makes sure the company is being billed the proper amounts; makes payments owed by the company to suppliers, creditors, and vendors; and records the company's short-term debts. The ideal candidate for this position will be very analytical, detail-oriented, and organized.

Work Schedule :

Monday – Friday, Flexible hours ranging from 20-25 hours a week, occasional weekend work and overtime may be required at times.

Position Responsibilities:

Posting transaction details in accounting

software

Making payments owed by the company to suppliers and other creditors

Responding to queries from suppliers, customers, and staff

Processing, verifying, and recording accounts payable data to ensure compliance with company procedures

Expense Report processing and handling

Ensuring imaging of invoice supporting documents is timely and accurately performed

Assisting in streamlining the Accounts Payable process

Assisting with audit support as necessary

Other job duties as assigned

Job Requirements:

Specific qualifications for the role include:

Proven work experience as an Account Payable Specialist or similar role

High degree of accuracy and attention to detail

Proficientin Microsoft Office and data entry

Advanced Skills in Microsoft Excel

Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information

Understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounts payable principals

Associates Degree or higher in Accounting or Finance a plus

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:

As an Accounts Payable Specialist working in a manufacturing plant setting, there are specific physical requirements and work environment considerations to keep in mind. Physical requirements may include the ability to stand for extended periods, walk through the plant floor, and lift or move up to 50 pounds. Additionally, good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination may be necessary for tasks such as data entry or filing. The employee must have corrected vision and hearing within normal range.

In terms of the work environment, the Accounts Payable Specialist may be exposed to noise from machinery, varying temperatures depending on the plants operations, and potentially hazardous materials. Therefore, familiarity with safety protocols and the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is essential.
