The Assistant Chief Engineer is responsible for assisting the Chief Engineer in the overall maintenance and operation of the hotel. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in engineering, exceptional problem-solving skills, and a commitment to maintaining a safe and efficient environment for our guests and staff.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the supervision and coordination of the maintenance and engineering team.
  • Oversee the operation and maintenance of all building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical.
  • Perform regular inspections of the property to identify and address maintenance issues.
  • Respond to guest and staff maintenance requests in a timely and professional manner.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of preventative maintenance programs.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and standards.
  • Coordinate with external contractors and vendors for specialized repairs and maintenance.
  • Assist in budgeting and financial planning for the engineering department.
  • Provide training and support to engineering staff.
  • Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair activities.
  • Support the Chief Engineer in all aspects of the departments operations.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent; advanced technical training or a degree in engineering or a related field is preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in a hotel or hospitality setting.
  • Strong knowledge of building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Proficiency in computer systems and maintenance management software, CMMS EWorks a plus.
