You will utilize your extensive HR management experience to improve and scale our HR processes and implement best practices while ensuring alignment with our mission and values. Additionally, you will play a key role in managing change to ensure smooth transitions and the successful adoption of new HR initiatives throughout the organization. The Director of Human Resources will report to the Vice President of Operations and will be on a team of five. This role includes a competitive salary commensurate with experience, plus benefits. Much of SPN’s staff are remote and this position is eligible to work remotely from a virtual office anywhere in the United States. Main Responsibilities: Complete regular HR tasks including but not limited to reviewing payroll and administering employee benefits. Provide support and guidance to management and staff when complex, specialized, and sensitive questions and issues arise. Ensure compliance with internal policies as well as federal, state, and local employment laws, and recommended best practices. Oversee employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations. Analyze trends in compensation and benefits; research and propose competitive base and bonus structure to ensure the organization attracts and retains top talent. Create learning and development programs and initiatives that provide internal development opportunities for employees. Oversee and manage the performance review process as well as performance management throughout the year. Assist in reviewing and updating the existing employee handbook to reflect current policies that support the organization’s goals and align with legal requirements. Develop and monitor overall HR strategies and procedures across the organization. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications: A minimum of four years of human resource management experience. Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. High standard of honesty and strong ethical standards. Successful track record of handling delicate, sensitive, and confidential information. Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality. Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations. Strong interest in advancing State Policy Network’s mission and impact. Limited travel required (15%).
