The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for completing a variety of tasks to support the daily operations of the HR department and works closely with all employees. This position will report directly to the HR Director at Midland Garage Door.

Title: Human Resources Generalist
Reports to: Director of Human Resources
FLSA Status: Exempt

Essential Duties:

  1. Recruit potential employees via recruiting platforms, employee referrals, on-site recruiting, job fairs and other sources.
  2. Keep accurate recordkeeping of applicants.
  3. Check candidates work history, competency, and other qualifications.
  4. Communicate with applicants before, during and after the interview process.
  5. Make employment offers to candidates, complete proper paperwork and manage all pre-employment screenings.
  6. Conduct new hire orientation and verify all appropriate new hire paperwork has been completed.
  7. Respond to any employee questions - have an open-door policy for all employees to be able to call, email, and interact face to face.
  8. Support strategies to continuously improve employee engagement.
  9. Verify that appropriate termination paperwork was completed
  10. Review benefits package with employees who have completed their probationary period.
  11. Assists with the bi-weekly payroll process. Includes data collection of all employees' hours worked, confirm garnishments, verify 401K changes, HSA and FSA changes, wage changes etc.
  12. Provides guidance on discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.
  13. Attend approved educational seminars for your professional development.

  6. Ability to remain professional and courteous at all times to employees and external contacts.
  7. Represents the company with a professional appearance and professional behavior at all times. Recognizes that this is a high-profile position in the company and requires someone who sets the example in the areas of productivity, work ethic, honesty, and performance.
  8. Microsoft Office proficiency required. Especially in Excel, Word, and Outlook

Education and Experience:
A Bachelor's degree is preferred, and 3-5 years of HR Generalist experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience to successfully perform the essential responsibilities and duties as listed above.
