The HR Generalist manages the day-to-day operations of the Human Resources department. The HR Generalist manages the administration of HR policies, procedures, and programs. The HR Generalist carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: departmental development, Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS), employee relations, training and development, benefits, compensation, organizational development, and employment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as a primary contact for employee inquiries and issues.
- Address and resolve employee relations issues, conducting thorough investigations when necessary.
- Facilitate conflict resolution and provide guidance on disciplinary actions.
- Manage the full recruitment cycle including job postings, interviewing, hiring, and onboarding processes.
- Coordinate with department heads to identify staffing needs and develop job descriptions.
- Conduct background checks and reference checks.
- Develop, implement, and monitor training programs to enhance employee skills and career development.
- Coordinate orientation and training sessions for new hires.
- Assess training needs and work with managers to schedule and deliver appropriate training.
- Administer compensation and benefit plans.
- Assist employees with benefit programs and resolve issues as they arise.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.
- Assist with performance evaluation processes.
- Work with managers to address performance issues and implement improvement plans.
- Support managers and employees through the annual performance review process.
- Maintain and update employee records in the HRIS.
- Generate and analyze HR reports to provide insights and support decision-making.
- Ensure data integrity and accuracy within the HRIS.
- Develop and implement employee engagement initiatives.
- Monitor and address employee turnover rates, providing strategies for retention.
- Conduct exit interviews and analyze feedback for continuous improvement.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of HR experience, preferably in a generalist role.
- Strong knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices.
- Proficiency in HRIS and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive information confidentially.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Certification (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP) is a plus.
