The HR Generalist manages the day-to-day operations of the Human Resources department. The HR Generalist manages the administration of HR policies, procedures, and programs. The HR Generalist carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: departmental development, Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS), employee relations, training and development, benefits, compensation, organizational development, and employment.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a primary contact for employee inquiries and issues.
  • Address and resolve employee relations issues, conducting thorough investigations when necessary.
  • Facilitate conflict resolution and provide guidance on disciplinary actions.
  • Manage the full recruitment cycle including job postings, interviewing, hiring, and onboarding processes.
  • Coordinate with department heads to identify staffing needs and develop job descriptions.
  • Conduct background checks and reference checks.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor training programs to enhance employee skills and career development.
  • Coordinate orientation and training sessions for new hires.
  • Assess training needs and work with managers to schedule and deliver appropriate training.
  • Administer compensation and benefit plans.
  • Assist employees with benefit programs and resolve issues as they arise.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.
  • Assist with performance evaluation processes.
  • Work with managers to address performance issues and implement improvement plans.
  • Support managers and employees through the annual performance review process.
  • Maintain and update employee records in the HRIS.
  • Generate and analyze HR reports to provide insights and support decision-making.
  • Ensure data integrity and accuracy within the HRIS.
  • Develop and implement employee engagement initiatives.
  • Monitor and address employee turnover rates, providing strategies for retention.
  • Conduct exit interviews and analyze feedback for continuous improvement.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of HR experience, preferably in a generalist role.
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices.
  • Proficiency in HRIS and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information confidentially.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Certification (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP) is a plus.
