Manager of Volunteer Engagement - St. Paul, MN

Pay: $46,400 per year (experience will be compensated)

Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week

Shift times: Primarily Monday-Friday, 9am - 5pm. Occasional weekends and evenings required.

Location: Hybrid, with some travel for in-person events

Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent work experience

Your Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
  • Establishes, promotes, and communicates vision and goals for engagement of volunteers, interns, advocates, and community partners that are in alignment with PPNCS' strategic plan.
  • Develops innovative ways to engage with volunteers and community partners.
  • Provides clear definitions and delineations for all PPNCS volunteer programs, ensuring all programs have clearly defined and trackable goals.
  • Recognizes the capacity of volunteering to expand our organization and builds strategies to move volunteers to staff members.

  • Establishes and maintains volunteer program structures, including procedures and guidelines for recruiting, screening, placing, orienting, tracking, documenting, managing performance, and recognizing volunteers and interns.
  • Documents policies, procedures, and guidelines for all aspects of recruiting, screening, placing, orienting, training, and recognizing volunteers and interns.
  • Provides guidance to staff supervising volunteers, including clinic and department
  • Acts as resource and liaison for affiliate-wide network of department-level leaders of volunteers and interns, providing direction, best practices, curricula and more to them in volunteer management and coordination (recruitment, selection, placement, orientation, recognition, supervision, etc.).

  • Recognizes the capacity of external partnerships to expand our organization and builds strategies that leverage partners to strengthen PPNCS' ability to provide core services.
  • Serves as the first point of contact for potential community partners, providing referrals to department volunteer programs and potential partnership resources.
  • Participates in project teams and committees (both internal and external) related to volunteer engagement and community partnerships.

  • Works to acknowledge and dismantle white supremacy within our organizational culture and build lasting authentic partnerships to support key community organizations already doing this work.

  • Partners with departments across the affiliate to establish and maintain volunteer and community partner program frameworks, including the development of target outcomes, identifying key performance indicators, and creating sustainable systems to monitor and report on volunteer activities and program impact.
  • Conducts and reports annual and ongoing evaluation and promotes improvement of volunteer programs.
  • Collects annual evaluations from community partner organizations to assess satisfaction with PPNCS as a community partner.
  • Ensures community outreach resources are distributed equitably across the affiliate in accordance with anticipated event reach.
  • Develops and manages volunteer and partnership program budget in accordance with program
  • Manages centralized online recruitment postings for volunteers and interns.
  • Conducts risk-mitigation efforts related to utilization of community partners, volunteers, interns, student trainees, committee members, and other non-paid "staff", including developing and executing compliance-related strategies, maintaining exemplary security-related screenings, and providing thorough risk assessments to leadership.
