Summary

The HR Generalist will be responsible for performing HR duties on a professional level and work closely with HR Management in supporting each of our 16 theaters. This position carries out responsibilities in the following function areas: employee relations, performance management, HRIS & LMS maintenance, policy implementation, recruitment, and employment law compliance.

This role will be based out of our office located in Troy, MI. Training will be conducted in-person during the first several months. There is potential for occasional remote workdays (Wednesdays & Fridays), subject to manager discretion, although this is not guaranteed.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Serve as a point of contact for employee relations issues.
  • Conduct investigations in a timely manner and recommend appropriate actions.
  • Provide guidance and coaching to managers and employees on performance related issues.
  • Identify training needs and coordinate employee training programs.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on special projects and initiatives as needed.
  • Maintain and update employee information in the HRIS and LMS.
  • Generate reports and analyze data from the HRIS as needed.
  • Assist with open enrollment and other annual reporting including but not limited to 401k, W2's, 1095, etc.
  • Manage workers' compensation and general liability claims and report them to the carrier in a timely manner.
  • Assist in the implementation of new HRIS modules or upgrades.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of HR policies & procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable labor laws and regulations
  • Manage the recruitment process for all theater management positions including attracting talent, job postings, interviews, offer letters and background checks.
  • Assist with planning and coordinating employee engagement initiatives such as monthly lunches, birthday & anniversary cards, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned

Education and/or Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field; HR Certification (e.g SHRM-CP) preferred and at least 3 years of progressive HR experience.
  • Experience with handling employee relations issues.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit and climb or balance. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust focus. Work hours could be 45 plus hours a week.
