Summary

The HR Generalist will be responsible for performing HR duties on a professional level and work closely with HR Management in supporting each of our 16 theaters. This position carries out responsibilities in the following function areas: employee relations, performance management, HRIS & LMS maintenance, policy implementation, recruitment, and employment law compliance.

This role will be based out of our office located in Troy, MI. Training will be conducted in-person during the first several months. There is potential for occasional remote workdays (Wednesdays & Fridays), subject to manager discretion, although this is not guaranteed.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Serve as a point of contact for employee relations issues.
  • Conduct investigations in a timely manner and recommend appropriate actions.
  • Provide guidance and coaching to managers and employees on performance related issues.
  • Identify training needs and coordinate employee training programs.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on special projects and initiatives as needed.
  • Maintain and update employee information in the HRIS and LMS.
  • Generate reports and analyze data from the HRIS as needed.
  • Assist with open enrollment and other annual reporting including but not limited to 401k, W2's, 1095, etc.
  • Manage workers' compensation and general liability claims and report them to the carrier in a timely manner.
  • Assist in the implementation of new HRIS modules or upgrades.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of HR policies & procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable labor laws and regulations
  • Manage the recruitment process for all theater management positions including attracting talent, job postings, interviews, offer letters and background checks.
  • Assist with planning and coordinating employee engagement initiatives such as monthly lunches, birthday & anniversary cards, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned

Education and/or Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field; HR Certification (e.g SHRM-CP) preferred and at least 3 years of progressive HR experience.
  • Experience with handling employee relations issues.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit and climb or balance. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust focus. Work hours could be 45 plus hours a week.
