Job Description:

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

The Portfolio Manager is responsible for managing and servicing a portfolio of commercial loan clients as well as partnering with the Relationship Managers to help expand, build and maintain strong relationships with their clients. The Portfolio Manager, working with the Lending, Underwriting, and Credit Administration staff, will assist with the servicing of the existing loan portfolio which will include financial statement spreading, annual reviews, loan covenant compliance monitoring, and assisting with loan maturities/renewals and loan delinquency monitoring.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist the Relationship Managers with the loan approval process by obtaining and analyzing financials, preparing loan summaries and packages for approval, as needed
  • Collect and analyze tax returns, personal financial statements, rent rolls, and other underwriting items
  • Utilize a loan decisioning module to assist with quick decisioning on small business loans and deliver results to Relationship Managers
  • Responsible for ongoing monitoring of loans including the completion of annual reviews as required by policy. Will coordinate the scheduling of periodic meetings with the Commercial Loan Committee to assess the annual reviews
  • Review closed loans to ensure compliance with approval and policy
  • Performs various Business Services departmental functions to include, but not limited to loan covenant monitoring, risk rating, loan review, stress testing, and annual state/federal audit preparation.
  • Responsible for financial information management, financial statement spreading, and loan covenant compliance monitoring
  • May assess the ongoing risk of current loans in the commercial portfolio, tracking of loan covenants, requirement for (additional) collateral and personal guarantees
  • Responsible for exception monitoring and resolution (with assistance from the Relationship Managers, as needed)
  • Responsible for monitoring borrowers' payment of property (real estate) taxes for real estate-secured loans
  • Ensure that all maturing loans/lines of credit, renewals, and/or modifications are underwritten prior to loan maturity date
  • Assist Relationship Managers with loan and business credit card delinquency monitoring
  • Interact with clients as needed to support Relationship Managers, facilitate portfolio management, underwriting and new business development
  • Obeys and follows all applicable federal laws, rules, and regulations relating to anti-money laundering
  • Comply with all published enterprise level policies and procedures including, but not limited to, Risk Management policies
  • Complete all required, ongoing enterprise level training including, but not limited to BSA, OFAC, and Information Security
  • Other duties may be required and assigned by the supervisor
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge:
  • Knowledge of financial products and services.
  • Extensive knowledge of commercial credit and lending concepts, practices and regulations
  • Experience in managing customer relationships in a financial institution is required
  • Demonstrated ability to abide by the industry's state and federal regulations, as well as the credit union's current credit lending policy
  • Knowledge of needs-based sales and business development principles and techniques is preferred

Minimum Education and Experience:
  • College degree in Business, Finance, Economics or Accounting is preferred.
  • Prior loan underwriting and/or portfolio management experience would be beneficial.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to sit and stand for long periods of time.
  • Infrequent lifting or carrying of objects up to 10 pounds.
