Lincoln, NE (68504) Position Summary: Doane University is looking for a detail-oriented Financial Aid Counselor to join our Lincoln Campus As the Financial Aid Counselor, you will provide excellent customer service and guidance to financial aid applicants and their families throughout the financial aid application process. This role involves determining eligibility within the parameters of institutional, state, and federal requirements. Responsibilities include advising and assisting students with all aspects of financial aid, such as eligibility, policy clarification, loan process management, and providing information on financing options. You will utilize technology and systems (e.g., Colleague, NSLDS, COD, CPS, Scholarnet, MS Word, Excel) to determine student eligibility and originate financial aid awards, interpret complex financial aid regulations, understand personal income tax laws related to federal financial aid, and work both independently and collaboratively. Minimum Required Qualifications: Two years at an institution of higher learning or another highly regulated field. Proficiency in technology and the systems used to determine student eligibility and originate a financial aid award (e.g., Colleague, NSLDS, COD, CPS, Scholarnet, MS Word, Excel). Ability to interpret complex financial aid regulations and apply them appropriately in different situations. Understanding personal income tax laws as they relate to federal financial aid. Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment. Utilize conflict resolution skills with students and parents, helping them to understand and identify potential solutions to issues. Ability to communicate professionally with a diverse student population. Ability to organize, prioritize, and complete multiple projects with multiple deadlines. High level of attention to detail in every task. Strong problem-solving abilities and the ability to use sound judgment for decision-making. Familiarity with financial documents. Travel Required:
