The Opportunity: Contribute To The Growth Of Your Career

We have a newly created opportunity for a General Liability Claims Manager to join our expanding Risk & Compliance organization. This key role will manage general liability and auto liability programs, representing significant financial exposure. The manager will ensure proper claim handling procedures are being implemented by the insurance carrier, which includes timely investigations, litigation management, adequate reserve philosophies and sound settlement evaluation techniques. They will also advise Senior Management regarding large exposure claims and assist the AVP, Claims in identifying opportunities to mitigate insured losses.

This is a hybrid position based in our Marlborough, MA offices.

What You Will Do:

  • Manage the claims management program for the Company, designed to minimize exposure to general liability and automobile liability claims in a cost- effective manner.
  • Provide supervision, training, and technical development to Claims Administrators, evaluate performance of Administrators on an ongoing basis.
  • Oversee the case load assigned to each Claims Administrator and adjust as necessary to ensure proper handling and case resolution.
  • Review files and make recommendations to ensure proper handling and case resolution, reviews reserves and allocated expenses for adequacy.
  • Evaluate cases to ensure settlements are reasonable and timely.
  • Clarify Risk Management policy and procedures when issues arise.
  • Create new reference materials as procedural deficiencies or gaps are identified across the company.
  • Ensure insurance carrier adheres to Special Claims Handling Instructions.
  • Maintain direct communication with primary contacts at insurance carrier to ensure quality claims handling, identify problems/issues, and make recommendations to improve account management.
  • Partner with the team on implementation, change management and ongoing maintenance of Risk Management Information System.
  • Prepare claim management reports for senior management.
  • Assist AVP, Claims with special projects as assigned.

Who We Are Looking For:You

  • Bachelors degree in Business or equivalent professional experience
  • 5-10 years claims management experience supporting a large-scale, multi-state program
  • Technical and product specific expertise, innovative claims resolution skill and knowledge of insurance and claims principles, practices and procedures including experience with complex and litigated claims
  • Effective communication, negotiation, and presentation skills, ability to effectively interact with all levels of internal and external business partners
  • Advanced analytical and problem- solving skills, with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • Proven experience leading and developing direct reports
  • Superior analytical, quantitative, and creative problem-solving abilities
  • Developed skill collaborating and building effective working relationships with internal and external partners in a constantly evolving environment
  • Comfortable dealing with ambiguity and working in the gray
  • Proficient with Office 365 Suite

This position has a starting salary range of $90,200 to $115,200 per year.

Actual starting pay is determined by a number of factors, including relevant skills, qualifications, and experience. This position is eligible for an annual incentive as well as long-term incentives.
