ROLE We are seeking an experienced Legal Compliance Coordinator to support the United States Attorney’s Office (USAO), Northern District of Georgia. Your scope of work includes investigating civil rights violations, collaborating with attorneys, analyzing evidence, and ensuring adherence to federal civil rights laws. Apply today RESPONSIBILITIES Plan and conduct investigations Verify facts in civil rights cases, independently or with Civil Rights attorneys Use both electronic methods and other investigative techniques to identify and locate witnesses Conduct witness interviews Summarize and synthesize witness statements and related documents Participate in on-site visits to the target’s property as part of the investigation process Review and organize documents (e.g., reports, bank records, interview files, data, etc.) Assist attorneys in developing investigative plans Identify key facts, legal theories, and investigation scope with attorneys Establish and maintain an effective system for compiling information and its sources Handle initial communication with the public regarding civil rights complaints Refer inquiries to appropriate community resources when necessary Prepare detailed reports and present findings to attorneys and other staff members Monitor, review, and analyze info. from multiple sources Decide if there is a need for further research or investigation Make informed decisions on the direction and scope of investigations Consolidate and disseminate information to various law enforcement agencies and organizations Review evidence to identify patterns, anticipate events, and determine required proof for legal responsibility Devise methods for obtaining, preserving, and presenting evidence Monitor defendants’ compliance with settlements and consent decrees Recommend appropriate actions when deficiencies are identified Determine the necessary proof to affix legal responsibility for violations Coordinate with attorneys to conduct follow-up research and analysis Organize and participate in outreach activities and public presentations on federal civil rights laws and regulations Engage with community and advocacy groups to raise awareness and promote understanding of civil rights protections Compile, organize, and index evidence for use in settlement negotiations and trial Manage the presentation of exhibits (e.g., preparing narrative summaries, charts, tables, graphs, etc.) Prepare and draft sections of settlement documents Ensure accuracy and inclusion of relevant information for legal documents Provide civil rights litigation support tasks (e.g., copying, mailing, closing files, and maintaining pleadings) KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS Knowledge of investigative principles, techniques, and procedures Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws Knowledge of Lexis/Nexis and/or Westlaw for legal research Ability to create and adapt methods to achieve investigative goals Ability to identify, develop, and present evidence that reconstructs events and relationships Skilled in analyzing financial, billing, and other reporting information relevant to civil rights enforcement Proficiency in Microsoft Office (e.g., Excel, Outlook, Access, & PowerPoint) and Adobe Strong communication and organizational skills BACKGROUND Experience in planning and conducting complex investigations Experience with evidence rules and constitutional rights Must possess a valid driver’s license EDUCATION Bachelor’s degree preferred LOCATION Atlanta, GA 30303 TELEWORK N/A CLEARANCE U.S. citizenship required as it supports the U.S. federal government CLIENT Department of Justice (DOJ) TRAVEL Travel is required WORK HOURS 40 hours a week 8 hours per day EMPLOYMENT CLASSIFICATION Employment Classification Eligibility — Nonexempt RELOCATION Not eligible for relocation benefits KMRG, LLC is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action (EEO/AA) employer.
