Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled In-House Counsel to join our team at Planned Parenthood Action Fund Inc. as a Senior Legal Advisor - Compliance and Advocacy. The ideal candidate will provide expert legal guidance and support across a range of areas, including compliance, regulatory matters, contracts, litigation, and advocacy efforts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory developments affecting reproductive health care and advocacy, providing timely and accurate analysis to inform our advocacy efforts.
  • Collaborate with advocacy teams to develop and advocate for policies that support our mission and goals, leveraging expertise in healthcare law and non-profit organizations.
  • Provide legal analysis and support for advocacy initiatives, including drafting legislation, regulatory comments, and amicus briefs, with a focus on promoting reproductive rights and healthcare access.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, including vendor agreements, service contracts, real estate contracts, and partnership agreements, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Advise on contractual rights and obligations, risk allocation, and dispute resolution, providing strategic guidance to senior leadership.
  • Oversee litigation matters, including coordinating with external counsel, managing discovery, and providing strategic guidance on legal disputes, with a focus on protecting our organization's interests.
  • Conduct legal training sessions for staff on relevant legal topics, including compliance requirements and risk mitigation strategies, to ensure a culture of compliance and accountability.
  • Develop educational materials and resources to promote legal awareness and understanding across the organization, enhancing our ability to advocate for reproductive rights and healthcare access.
Requirements
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school and active membership in good standing with the state bar.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant legal experience, preferably in healthcare law, non-profit organizations, or advocacy, with a strong understanding of federal and state healthcare regulations.
  • Strong knowledge of contract law, litigation, and regulatory compliance, with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders, including advocacy teams, senior leadership, and external partners.
