Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough research on legal matters, including researching precedents in cases
  • Prepare and disseminate complex documents, including subpoenas, pleadings, and legal opinions
  • Develop and modify forms and procedures to ensure compliance with state and federal laws
  • Provide analysis and recommendations on legal issues within the scope and authority of the agency
  • Act as a liaison or representative between the agency and the Department of Law
  • May act as a lead worker and/or supervise support staff

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide support and assistance to the supervising attorney on a variety of legal matters
  • Respond to requests for information and provide answers, opinions, and recommendations regarding legal issues
  • Research and analyze laws and regulations to ensure compliance
  • Review and analyze legal documents, including subpoenas, court orders, and affidavits
  • Assist in the preparation and coordination of cases prior to and during administrative proceedings, trials, and subsequent appeals
  • Assist in legal research, analyze statutes, case law, and other relevant information in aid of the development of case strategies
  • Prepare petitions, briefs, motions, and other legal instruments, reports, and correspondence for investigation, discovery, and litigation phases
  • Participate in the preparation and coordination of cases prior to and during administrative proceedings and trials
  • Gather information, identify and review facts and issues in the preparation for administrative proceedings and trials
  • Gather documents, prepares exhibits and other necessary items for administrative proceedings and court
  • Prepare legal documents, reports, and statements as required for administrative proceedings and trial
  • Comply with continuing requirements to improve effectiveness and maintain knowledge of current trends and developments in the field

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctorate from an accredited college or university
  • License to practice law in the State of Georgia or eligibility to sit for the next Georgia Bar examination followed by Georgia Bar exam passage and licensure to practice law in the State of Georgia within one (1) year of hiring or reciprocity

Salary Range: $43,000 - $78,000
