We are looking for a passionate Management Accountant to join our Business Services (Accounting Services) team to oversee a broad range of Finance/ RtR activities from journal processing, through to balance sheet/ P&L assurance, and will play a crucial role in National Grid meeting our statutory and regulatory reporting obligations, and SOx requirements.
This role is based out of our Warwick office, and we’d hope to see you at least two days per week but you’re welcome to be in the office more often if that would work best for you. We’re happy to discuss any additional flexibility in working patterns or requirements that you feel could help to make this job work for you
What You'll Do
Ensure accounting entries are appropriately classified in accordance with internal policy, accounting standards, nature of expenditure or form of control.
Role model service as a key part for all processes, ensure service offering is provided in a way that is reliable, responsive and easy to deal with.
Management of external auditors and plan, including investigating and responding to queries from external auditors and internal finance/tax colleagues.
Proactively identify and deliver process improvements to ensure the timely and accurate processing of financial transactions.
Continuous review and refinement of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s).
Engage proactively with offshore managed provider to manage the close timetable and ensuring processes are executed in accordance with relevant SoX and business controls.
Be a key point of contact for key stakeholders within the business.
Review processes end to end, make improvements to the processes as required and build a strong
understanding
of the implications and outputs of each process.
Ensuring the processing of financial entries with all activities lead to complete and accurate financial information and production of financial reporting.
What You'll Have
Part/Fully qualified accountant (UK: ACCA, CIMA, ACA etc.)
.
Sox Experience is essential.
Value driving mindset around process improvements, outputs for customer and value.
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint and knowledge of financial modelling in Excel.
Strong interpersonal and influencing skills and good judgement in areas where decisions can have a significant financial impact.
Proactive self-starter with ability to manage own workload, to time and desired levels of quality.
Ability to set and manage customer expectations and manage key stakeholder.
Experience of a regulated utility environment will be plus.
Strong stakeholder management, influencing and collaboration skills.
Good working knowledge of SAP S/4HANA and Archer GRC tool highly desirable
