Entry Level Staff Accountant

Schedule: Monday-Friday 8am-4pm (35hrs/wk)

Location: Hartford, CT (5 days/wk)

Pay: Up to $24/hr to start

The purpose of this position is to support the Agencys needs by performing assigned responsibilities related to general ledger reporting, bank account reconciliations, and internal financial reporting including cost allocations associated with the Agencys monthly financial reporting.

Responsibilities:

- Ensure the timely closure of the month-end and year-end closing process for assigned areas, including monthly journal entries and general account reconciliations.

- Assist with general ledger maintenance and monitoring for assigned areas.

- Prepare assigned monthly bank reconciliations for designated bank accounts to be reviewed by the Accounting/Payroll Manager.

- Coordinate with payroll to prepare necessary allocation adjustments as it relates to all completed Request for Personnel Action forms.

- Prepare the monthly payroll and vacation accrual entries for review by the Accounting/Payroll Manager.

- Oversee and revise occupancy tables used to track the applicable occupancy costs of each CRT location to the applicable programs.

- Oversee and revise allocation tables for the Agencys cell phone, copier, and insurance expenses to track applicable costs to each program.

- Assist in the preparation of journal entries to be reviewed by the Accounting/Payroll Manager, to allocate indirect and administrative support expenses and to reconcile general ledger and subsidiary information in the occupancy tables and provide information as needed to the Accounting/Payroll Manager and the Budget Controls Manager.

- Coordinate with internal departments related to fixed asset monitoring and maintenance.

- Monitor and calculate monthly depreciation expenses.

- Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual closing and audit processes.

- Under supervision of the Sr. Director of Administration, process monthly rental activities and monthly closing items related to CRTs multi-family properties in the respective subsidiarys general ledger.

- Act as back-up for the Accounts Receivable Specialist to make deposits on behalf of CRT.

- Act as a lead for assigned areas in the coordination of the year-end audit. Work closely with outside accounting firms to provide necessary lead schedules and supporting work papers related to the general ledger.

Hard Skills

+ Accounting Degree - Bachelor's preferred

+ Accounting experience of at least 1+ years or an internship

+ GAAP: Shared expenses, fixed assets, bank reconciliation, lease expenses, cell phone subscriptions, set monthly expenses, A/P & A/R

+ Cost Accounting: cost allocation tables

+ Tech-savvy: good Excel skills

This is a fully on-site position in Hartford, Connecticut.
