**Sustainability Science and Practice Program**

The Sustainability Science and Practice Program (or SUST) is an interdisciplinary coterminal master’s program within SDSS that prepares students to be a new kind of leader, capable of radically accelerating the transition to a sustainable society. The SUST community includes nearly 100 master’s students from diverse undergraduate majors, a network of alumni working across sectors to advance sustainability, affiliated faculty from all seven schools at Stanford, and a dedicated and collaborative staff team. SUST is part of the Change Leadership for Sustainability Program, which also offers an online course and other professional education opportunities.

**About the Position**

The Sustainability Science and Practice Program is seeking a service-minded and detail-oriented professional to join our team as a Student Services Officer (SSO) on a half-time basis (50% part-time role). Working in close coordination with the Assistant Director of Student Services, the SSO will be responsible for administering program, school, and university policies and procedures that pertain to SUST coterminal master’s students, and will advise students on a variety of matters including program requirements, course selection, and degree progress. The SSO will also assist the program team with curriculum management, admissions, and program development and evaluation.

**Your Responsibilities will include**:

- Oversee, review and administer student records by analyzing data, counseling students and providing recommendations that require interpretation and influence decisions. Make exceptions on issues of eligibility, course enrollment and program requirements.
- Develop recommendations and collaborate with staff, faculty and other offices to resolve programmatic issues within the school and across functional units, such as strategizing to ensure optimal enrollment and resolving course scheduling conflicts.
- Provide advice to students on a range of issues, including, but not limited to, academic progress, program and university policies, accessibility, community standards, etc., to guide them in making appropriate choices and decisions.
- Apprise students of research, fellowship and scholarship opportunities, and participate in related student recruitment and selection.
- Provide first-line response to identify students in crisis and refer to appropriate resources, as needed.
- Collect and analyze data from multiple sources including surveys, trend reports, and feedback gathered from first-line interactions with students.
- Summarize findings and make recommendations to enhance program offerings and improve processes and policies.
- Support annual admissions cycle by assisting with outreach and communications to prospective students, informational sessions, new student orientation, and other functions.
- Assist with administrative processes such as data entry, report preparation, and financial transactions such as aid disbursements.
- May train and supervise volunteers, students, and temporary workers.
- Collaborate with program colleagues to improve operational efficiency, effectiveness, and sustainability.
- Participate in events and school-wide initiatives as an active member of the SDSS community (e.g., DEI gatherings, zero waste initiative, etc).
