Position Title: Student Services Coordinator 1

Overview:

The Student Services Coordinator 1 plays a pivotal role in supporting graduate students within the Master of Science in Computer Science (MSCS) program. This position serves as the primary contact for students, ensuring they receive comprehensive guidance on their academic journey.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and oversee student records, providing analysis and counseling to assist students in navigating their academic requirements and making informed decisions.
  • Collaborate with faculty and administrative staff to address and resolve programmatic challenges, ensuring optimal student enrollment and satisfaction.
  • Advise students on various matters, including academic progress, program policies, career development, and available resources to support their educational experience.
  • Inform students about research, fellowship, and scholarship opportunities, and participate in recruitment and selection processes.
  • Identify students in distress and facilitate referrals to appropriate support services.
  • Gather and analyze feedback from students through surveys and reports, making recommendations to enhance program offerings and improve processes.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support the department's objectives.

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree combined with two years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Essential Skills:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Proficient in basic computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Customer service-oriented with a focus on student support.
  • Familiarity with relevant technology and systems.
  • Understanding of financial processes and compliance with institutional policies.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to perform desk-based tasks, including frequent sitting and occasional standing or walking.
  • Capable of handling light physical tasks, such as lifting objects up to 10 pounds.

  • Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and external partners.
