About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Substitute Teacher to join our team at Children's Health Council. As a Substitute Teacher, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality educational services to our students with learning differences.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Implement Lesson Plans: Prepare and deliver lesson plans that meet the academic needs of our students, incorporating accessibility criteria and Common Core standards.
  • Support Student Progress: Monitor and track student progress, identifying areas of strength and weakness, and developing strategies to support student growth.
  • Collaborate with Colleagues: Work closely with the School Director, Academic Program Manager, and other team members to ensure seamless communication and coordination of services.
  • Provide Guidance and Supervision: Offer guidance and supervision to teaching assistants and interns, ensuring they have the support and resources needed to provide high-quality services.
  • Attend Meetings and Professional Development: Participate in regular team meetings, professional development opportunities, and training sessions to stay up-to-date on best practices and industry developments.
Requirements
  • Valid Teaching Credential: Hold a valid California teaching credential or be eligible for one.
  • Master's Degree Preferred: A master's degree in a related field is preferred, but not required.
  • Experience Working with Students with Learning Differences: Have recent experience working with students with learning differences, including anxiety, attention, mood dysregulation, and specific learning challenges.
  • Strong Interpersonal Skills: Possess strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Knowledge of Core Curriculum and Universal Design for Learning: Have knowledge of Core Curriculum and Universal Design for Learning, with experience implementing these approaches in previous work environments.
