Our mission at Ronald McDonald House Charities® of Southern California (RMHCSC) is to provide comfort, care, and support to children and families in Southern California. To achieve our vision of creating a community where children and their families embrace life and healing with a sense of hope, enthusiasm, and joy. The Ronald McDonald House® Orange County (RMHOC) is located blocks away from Children’s Hospital of Orange County and provides a home-away-from-home for up to 44 families every night.

**Summary**: Under the direction of the Development Director, the Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for the leadership and integration of volunteers into the Ronald McDonald House® Orange County. The Volunteer Coordinator coordinates and facilitates the recruitment, training, scheduling, retention, and recognition of volunteers for House Operations and Development and is the first personal point of contact for people who wish to volunteer for the organization. The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for achieving what is absolutely critical for the long-term sustainability of the Ronald McDonald House® involving volunteers in every part of our mission.

**Responsibilities**:
**Essential Duties and Responsibilities**:
**_Volunteer Recruitment and Support_**
- Develop volunteer training materials and sessions to ensure that new volunteers are welcomed appropriately and receive all relevant information and support to ensure their continued participation.
- Develop, implement, and maintain a volunteer recruitment, retention, and recognition plan.
- Provide orientation and ongoing training and skill development of volunteers to address program needs as they arise.
- Ensure that the work of the volunteers is supported and that volunteer recognition is organized at least annually (i.e. volunteer appreciation dinner)

**_Volunteer Scheduling_**
- Coordinate volunteer recruitment in the community at large by maintaining a list of tasks across different work areas and departments, identifying which areas need volunteer work the most critically at any given time.
- Coordinate volunteer recruitment and scheduling to ensure a full complement of Core & House volunteers for each day shift of operation.
- Coordinate and schedule Meals of Love and McBakers programs and ensure hosts are properly informed of guidelines and thanked for their participation.
- Coordinate recruitment and supervise volunteers for events throughout the year.
- Coordinate with members of the Development Dept. securing volunteers for Signature Events.

Meals of Love and McBakers Program
- Outreach to the community to secure volunteers for Meals of Love and McBakers Program.
- Coordinate and schedule daily dinner meals for families staying at RMHOC through the Meals of Love Program.
- Coordinate and schedule Meals of Love and McBakers volunteers for meals, snacks, and sweets every holiday throughout the year.
- Coordinate with the Development Department to get recognition on RMHOC social media pages for recognition of Meals of Love,, and McBakers volunteers.
- Make sure the RMHOC kitchen is properly stocked with food items that the families can access. Food items to be specified by leadership.
- Manage the Healthy Meals Program in partnership with the meal consultants.

**_Record Keeping_**
- Coordinate volunteer scheduling by maintaining and updating the master calendar of shifts and a complete list of volunteers with updated contact information.
- Revise and maintain all volunteer forms and training materials.
- Maintain volunteer management software (Volunteer Hub), including volunteer contact information and service hours.
- Collect and document best practices for volunteer management, partially based on communicating with other non-profits and by research on the topic.

**_Communication_**
- Responsible for monitoring and responding to telephone inquiries within 24 business hours.
- Organize recruitment through print and online resources to educate prospective volunteers about different areas of volunteering.
- Represent RMHOC at events where we might find useful volunteers from specific backgrounds.
- Represent RMHOC at community events and work alongside volunteers.
- Report to the Development Director on a regular basis regarding volunteer issues and other program concerns.
- Communicate regularly with RMHOC Leadership Team regarding volunteer issues, calling meetings as necessary.
- Provide house tours to volunteer groups/individuals. Share house/volunteer opportunities with outside community groups.
- Provide monthly data reports to RMHOC Leadership Team.
- Provide clear communication and training for volunteers participating in RMHOC Signature Events.
