Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Director of Celebrations to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and overseeing resident services, including planning and coordinating opportunities for residents that promote physical, intellectual, social, emotional, and spiritual growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, schedule, and conduct lifestyle programs that provide a range of activities and opportunities for residents.
  • Develop and implement programs for holidays and special events.
  • Recruit and develop additional resources to support resident services.
  • Advise and motivate residents on individual and group activities based on their interests and opportunities for growth.
  • Prepare and organize a calendar of events, submit it for approval, and distribute it to residents.
  • Develop and print the community newsletter.
  • Provide leadership and oversight of the lifestyle program.
  • Coordinate the community library.
  • Purchase and maintain equipment and supplies within budgetary guidelines.
  • Prepare the Celebrations Operating Budget.
  • Organize and supervise a volunteer staff.
  • Address resident groups and other groups on topics of common interest.
  • Maintain a database and prepare reports on resident quality assurance assessments, participation, and satisfaction.
  • Supervise staff of Recreation and Event Coordinators across multiple levels of service in a retirement community.
  • Participate in community in-services.
  • Demonstrate competence in Federal, State, and Local regulations, requirements for skilled nursing, assisted living, and/or independent living as applicable; ensure compliance.
  • Develop, facilitate, and analyze resident surveys to determine ongoing activities that meet resident interests.
  • Plan, coordinate, and facilitate mixed group activities.
  • Develop and facilitate daily displays of activities on bulletin boards and/or kiosks in lobbies, elevators, dining rooms, and other resident and team member communication centers.
  • Maintain a robust public relations program in support of activities programming and community relations.
  • Implement and facilitate a volunteer recognition program.
Supervisory Responsibilities

Directly supervise employees in the Celebrations Department. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees.

Qualifications
  • Associate degree in Recreation, Therapeutic Recreation, Education, Gerontology, Social Work, or Adult Education.
  • Three to five years related experience.
  • Two years supervisory/management experience.
