Job Description

Job Summary:

Constellation Health Services is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Volunteer Program Coordinator to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and managing all volunteer program activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Volunteer Recruitment and Training: Develop and maintain a comprehensive volunteer training and orientation program to ensure that volunteers are equipped to provide exceptional support to our patients and their families.
  • Volunteer Management: Recruit, educate, and select volunteers from at least three (3) recruitment sessions a year, ensuring a diverse and skilled pool of volunteers.
  • Volunteer Placement and Supervision: Establish a need for volunteer services with the patient and family/caregiver and entire hospice team, assign, coordinate, and supervise volunteer activities, primarily: direct patient care, clerical, bereavement, fundraising, and special projects.
  • Volunteer Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate and up-to-date volunteer documentation, including records of volunteer hours, mileage, and activities, and prepare statistical reports to demonstrate the value of volunteer contributions.
  • Volunteer Evaluation and Development: Supervise and evaluate volunteers in a timely and appropriate manner, providing feedback and coaching to ensure that volunteers are meeting their full potential.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Attend interdisciplinary team meetings, represent volunteers, and contribute to patient care plans, ensuring that volunteer perspectives are integrated into care delivery.
  • Community Outreach and Education: Provide information to individuals and community groups about hospice volunteer services, promoting awareness and understanding of the importance of volunteerism in healthcare.
  • Program Development and Evaluation: Participate in quality assessment performance improvement teams and activities, reevaluating the volunteer program as necessary to ensure that it remains effective and efficient.

Qualifications:

  • Education: College degree, advanced degree in human services preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of two (2) years experience in a healthcare setting, hospice and/or volunteer experience preferred.
  • Skills: Ability to supervise, coordinate, and evaluate volunteer services, understand hospice philosophy, and manage a group of individuals providing volunteer time.
