**Bilingual Peer Support Specialist**

**Position Summary**:
Growing non-profit specializing in Maternal Mental Health is seeking a bilingual peer support specialist. This position is available at our Tempe and/or Gilbert office locations.

This position would be responsible for walking along side women and families to provide peer-based emotional support. A perinatal peer support coach will be responsible for screenings, complete intake/discharge procedures as well assisting perinatal women with navigation of mental health treatment services. A perinatal peer support coach will be the linkage for all perinatal women (and families if applicable) to fill gaps within the health care system and provide all necessary resources and navigation to address maternal mental health needs.

**Duties Include but Are Not Limited To**:

- Coordinating all aspects of the patient intake and treatment process
- Completing screenings to assess risk of all perinatal women
- Conducting coaching appointments, to include in-office, in-home, or hospital (when

applicable)
- Co-facilitate psychoeducational groups as necessary
- Establishing and maintaining positive relationships with patients and referral sources
- Responding to patient requests and concerns
- Managing the insurance verification and authorization processes if applicable

Supervisory Responsibilities:
None.

**Qualifications for Position**:

- High School Diploma or a General Education Degree (GED)
- Peer support certification a bonus. Otherwise, must be able to obtain State peer certification course and have related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of

education and experience
- Must be at least 2 l years of age and have a clean MVR
- Must have fingerprint clearance card
- Must possess good verbal and written skills
- Must possess the highest level of confidentiality
- Must be open-minded, flexible, and willing to take direction
- Must work well in a crisis setting and be willing to learn new crisis intervention

techniques
- Must be comfortable working with pregnant and postpartum women and children
- Must obtain CPR/First Aid certification
- Must have reasonable ability to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, feel,

reach, climb or balance, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk, hear, taste and smell. Must be

reasonably capable of lifting 20 pounds.
