We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Support Staff Specialist to join our team at Gilbert Unified Schools AZ. As a Support Staff Specialist, you will play a vital role in supporting the instructional program and providing assistance to students with special needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the supervision and instruction of students with special needs under the guidance of a certified teacher.
- Observe and document student progress, implementing plans for instruction and providing support as needed.
- Assist students with special health care needs, including daily care and developing daily living and behavioral skills.
- Collaborate with teachers and therapists to evaluate student progress and implement IEP objectives.
- Implement academic instruction assigned by a teacher or therapist for individuals or small groups.
- Implement behavioral plans designed by the IEP team for students with behavior disorders or other handicapping conditions.
- Provide instructional support to students, including counting, colors, behavioral skills, daily living skills, and verbal skills.
- Maintain instructional materials and student files/records, ensuring availability and accuracy.
- Monitor students during lunch, playground, classroom, and field trips, providing a safe and positive learning environment.
- Participate in the recording, reporting, and gathering of data for the Direct Service Claiming (DSC) program.
- Perform record-keeping and clerical functions, supporting the teacher in providing necessary records and materials.
- Respond to emergency situations, resolving immediate safety concerns.
Requirements:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Job-related experience is desired.
- CPR/First Aid certification.
- Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance.
Working Environment:
The Support Staff Specialist will work in a school setting, providing support to students with special needs. The position requires significant lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, as well as frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling. The job is performed under a generally hazard-free environment and in a clean atmosphere.
