Job Summary

The VP, Business Continuity is responsible for providing strategic vision, executive leadership, and direction of the enterprise’s Business Continuity Management System (BCMS). This leader champions business continuity and operational resilience strategy across the organization, identifying value and developing trusted partnerships. The VP, Business Continuity drives transformation and creative strategy execution to achieve specific results pertaining to operational and technology resilience. He/she creates business strategy to focus on strengths, competitive advantage, and differentiation. The VP, Business Continuity incorporates broad knowledge with situational awareness to address complex, unusual, and critical issues across multiple lines of business. He/she must be able to adjust their thinking to account for differences in our diverse portfolio of businesses including: • National network with towers and physical plants broadcasting our content and internet services. • Supply Chain facilities which move our goods and supplies across our national footprint. • Physical offices in the US and Chennai, India. • Advertising teams developing advertising content. • Multi-use facilities hosting professional sports and other entertainment events. • Headquarter-based functions such as HR and IT. • Retail stores directly service consumers. The VP Business Continuity will report to the SVP Supply Chain and Business Continuity and lead a team of 12 professionals.

Job Description

Core Responsibilities:

  • Provide overall business continuity and operational resilience strategic vision for the organization, designing program outcomes and objectives.
  • Champion executive program engagement, and commitment, providing updates aligned with organizational strategy.
  • Maintain executive-level leadership and direction with lines of business, providing proactive subject matter expertise and resources supporting Business Continuity.
  • Ability to move from theoretical to operational in times of need based on the situation.
  • Champion effective program governance and policies, assuring responsibilities and authorities for relevant roles are assigned and communicated within the organization.
  • Provide direction for the Business Continuity Office (BCO). Oversee the development, training, and performance management of BCO staff, establishing best practices and performance goals.
  • Lead enterprise-wide programmatic efforts that maintain ISO 22301 standards, supporting business objectives and emerging revenue opportunities.
  • Assure controls to manage the strategic risks identified, influencing business leaders to make key risk tolerance decisions balancing complex value/ cost decisions in the selection of continuity strategies and assure that relevant Teams, Technologies, and Locations have continuity plans commensurate with their level of criticality to key business processes.
  • Assure product lines have appropriate, disaster response escalation procedures, and level of testing.
  • Assure effectiveness of the continuity plan exercise strategy and oversight for exercises that test end-to-end resiliency of Comcast Business operations, and products/services.
  • Oversee internal controls assuring the maintenance of evidence validating program effectiveness for key stakeholders.
  • Identify and maintain an ongoing awareness of current regulations and standards affecting the industry, along with crisis management, business continuity, and technology continuity trends.
  • Consistently coordinate and maintain partnerships with external agencies that drive Emergency Preparedness, Crisis Management, and Operational Resilience activities.
  • Align multiple risk disciplines to ensure compliance with industry requirements as well as company policies and procedures.
  • Budget oversight, supervision, and accountability.
  • Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Professional Qualifications & Experience:

  • Master/Exec Education in relevant risk management discipline or corresponding experience
  • Minimum 15-20 years of progressively responsible experience including ownership of business results.
  • Generally, requires 10+ years related experience in business continuity or relevant front line business management.
  • Knowledge of telecommunications operations, or combination of industry-leading business continuity principles and relevant experience required, Comcast specific experience a plus.
  • Ability to influence/ persuade key stakeholders.
  • Horizon scanning awareness of both the emerging threat environment, and industry best practices
  • Conceptual, critical, big picture thinker, with strong situational awareness.
  • Remains calm under pressure and tolerant of stress to operational support business partners.
  • Familiarity with business continuity software or other relational database environments.
  • Ability to work in a complex, dynamic and fast-paced environment with strong project management skills that include prioritizing tasks, balancing workload between multiple projects, anticipating next steps, and adapting to change.
  • Strong communications skills both written and verbal.
  • Strong interpersonal skills exhibited in the form of relationship management, collaboration.
  • Strong executive presence, demonstrating ability to develop and maintain executive relationships.
