Job Summary and Qualifications

This position supports the mission of Presbyterian/St Luke’s Medical Center of optimizing the quality of life of all those served by expanding beyond the traditional focus on medical needs to the needs of the whole person. Works as a team member to assist the physician in performing the invasive cardiac procedures. Duties include scrubbing, monitoring and X-Ray operation. Performs ancillary duties related to the job such as QC, inventory and stocking as assigned by the supervisor. Facilitates educational programs and departmental competencies for CVTs and nurses. Mentors and functions as preceptor for new CVT employees. Provides all customers with the services/tests needed in a safe, friendly and efficient manner. The Lead Technologist’s aim is to provide leadership quality health care in the area of pediatric and adult cardiac care and vascular procedures as required by the Cardiovascular Department. Coordinates with Charge Nurse daily to ensure efficient workflow. When need arises, will perform supervisor duties in the supervisor’s absence.

  • National registry in Cardiovascular Technology (CCI) or Radiology Technology (AART) and in good standing. RCIS required. BCLS, ACLS required upon hire and PALS within 6 months of hire.
  • Associates degree in a health sciences field preferred. Completed an accredited CV training program or Radiologic training program.
  • Two years experience on the job or graduate from an Associates Degree program in radiology or cardiovascular technology. Both require certification within one year of hire.
  • Skills commensurate with formal training or on the job training such as operation of all cardiovascular lab equipment, procedure instrumentation, scrub and monitor procedure to include emergent situations. Displays good communication and organizational skills. Adheres to departmental safety and quality controls. Must have a good working knowledge of radiographic, hemodynamic monitoring, recording equipment and/or devices relative to cardiovascular procedures as determined by the Director/Supervisor. Must have basic keyboard and computer skills.
