Description

GPI seeks a Traffic Management Operator in Westbury, NY, who will be responsible for the day-to-day responsibilities of the Nassau County Traffic Management Center (TMC). The Nassau County Traffic Management Center (TMC) is a 24-hour operations center that controls over 1,000 traffic signals throughout Nassau County and monitors over 125 traffic cameras. The TMC Operator on duty monitors traffic cameras on a video wall and adjusts traffic signal timing in response to roadway incidents. Operations personnel will also be tasked with answering the phones, providing inter-agency coordination, organizing planned or unplanned traffic-related incidents, reacting to roadway incidents and vehicle congestion by providing information via social media and roadside electronic message signs for motorists, monitoring emergency services activity, coordinating response to incidents and fielding civilian complaints. Other tasks may include other administrative tasks such as preparing reports, attending to FOIL requests, updating database information, or preparing packages for shipping.

The position has 12-hour shifts that follow the Panama Schedule. Changes will occur at 10:00 AM and 10:00 PM daily. Every other weekend off. Candidates must have a flexible schedule. Significant opportunities for overtime.

Responsibilities:
Monitoring the County's incident management cameras, and traffic signal control system to identify any potential problems or issues along County roadways. Notification of emergency services, public works, posting messages to social media and roadside electronic message signs. Coordination of information between, office, administrative and field personnel and with other County, State and local agencies to mitigate traffic congestion issues and other roadway emergencies Coordination of planned and un-planned roadway and traffic eventsDispatch maintenance or supervisory staff as needed to address signal, camera or communications deficienciesOn the job and paid training will be providedQualifications:
Associate's degree from an accredited college or university preferred1 year satisfactory experience monitoring CCTV cameras, or data entry, or in traffic management preferredMust be available to work overtime for special events, weather events and off-hours emergencyKnowledge of computers in a Windows based environment including Microsoft OfficeBasic understanding of IP based computer networkingProficient with computer systems and surveillance technologyAbility to work independently and make quick decisionsMust have reliable transportation#Pando

Requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Maintain a valid driver's license with a clean motor vehicle report (MVR) for final considerationPossess a personal vehicle for use on or around a job siteRead, write, and understand plans and directions given in the English languageBasic computer skills with the ability to create and edit Microsoft Word and Excel documents, create Outlook emails and utilize SharePoint and Microsoft Teams to communicate with other team membersSummary
