GPI is looking for a Traffic Control Center Specialist who will oversee the daily operations of the Traffic Management Center (TMC). The TMC operates around the clock, managing over 1,000 traffic signals and monitoring a network of traffic cameras. The operator will be responsible for observing traffic conditions via a video wall and adjusting signal timings based on real-time roadway incidents.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Monitoring incident management cameras and traffic signal systems to detect potential issues on roadways.
  • Communicating with emergency services and public works, and disseminating information through electronic message signs.
  • Coordinating with office staff, field personnel, and various agencies to address traffic congestion and roadway emergencies.
  • Managing both planned and unplanned traffic events effectively.
  • Dispatching maintenance or supervisory personnel as necessary to resolve signal or camera issues.
  • Receiving on-the-job training, which is compensated.

Qualifications:

  • Preferred: Associate's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Experience in monitoring CCTV systems or data entry, or in traffic management is advantageous.
  • Availability for overtime during special events or emergencies is required.
  • Proficient in using computers within a Windows environment, including Microsoft Office.
  • Basic knowledge of IP-based networking is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with surveillance technology and computer systems is essential.
  • Ability to work independently and make swift decisions is crucial.
  • Reliable transportation is necessary.
