Job Overview

Position Schedule: Full-Time

The Team Leader in Compensation & Expense Service is responsible for leading a team of associates who respond directly to phone and written inquiries from our branch offices and/or home office associates.

The critical responsibilities of a Team Leader in Compensation & Expense Service include:

1. Department/Team Performance: Ensuring successful team performance by:
  • Partnering with Department Leader to establish and communicate department and team goals/objectives
  • Building relationships with associates to create an environment oriented to trust, open communication, creative thinking, and cohesive team effort
  • Contribute to workflow through the use of applicable systems, statistical analysis, reporting, and holding associates accountable
  • Effectively allocating resources in order to accomplish work in the most efficient and cost effective manner and ensuring associates receive adequate training and have the necessary resources to complete their work
2. Talent Leadership: Attract, Develop, and Retain Talent: Each associate is held accountable for meeting individual, team, and department goals and as a result, the LOA is responsible for:
  • Coaching for continuous improvement by providing associates with timely, relevant feedback regarding individual performance through the delivery of branch feedback and qualitative results, one-on-one meetings, trimester reviews, bonus discussions, and annual reviews in an effective manner to all associates
  • Partnering with the Human Resources and Recruiting departments of the firm to ensure the most qualified candidates are selected for the role
  • Ensuring that new associates are trained in a timely and efficient manner
  • Providing support and guidance to all associates on personal and/or career development plans
  • Ensuring strong associate engagement and inclusive work environment
3. Escalations: The Leader of associates must be available to address branch and home office escalations.

4. Stakeholder Relationships: The Leader of associates will be required to contribute to relationships with critical stakeholders as well as peers in other divisions/departments.
  • Leverage the relationships to drive results, promote change and navigate obstacles
  • Bring an understanding of branch processes and workflow into critical relationships to advocate for the branch and help create an ideal client relationships.
  • Proactively provide key stakeholders with information to help them enhance and develop systems and processes to create an ideal client relationship

Skills/Requirements

Qualifications Required in the Job:

Education/Certification
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required
Experience
  • 3+ years' management experience in financial services industry or 2+ years financial services experience along with 3+ years of non-industry specific leadership experience.
  • A diverse background across numerous areas of the division, firm, and/or industry is a plus. Experience in more than one Service area preferred, or equivalent breadth and depth of Service knowledge, with demonstrated proficiency of increasingly complex responsibilities.
Skills/Abilities
  • Coach and develop associates
  • Industry knowledge on specific products, services, processes, rules, regulations and/or automation.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to understand process and procedures.
  • Ability to adapt to and drive/support change
  • Ability to understand impact of department's work on service to the branch, other processes and ensure impact is considered in decisions.
  • Good understanding of major functions in the Finance Division and in divisions supported. Strong customer service(including Service Recovery skills), organizational and time management skills are a must.
  • Must develop strong knowledge of the current team to lead the associates

Please note: Candidates that live within a commutable distance from our Tempe, AZ and St. Louis, MO home office locations are expected to work in the office three days per week, with preference for Tuesday through Thursday.
