Head of IT Operations - Hybrid with required 2-3 days onsite in either Kent, Washington or Lacey Corporate Office, Washington. This position requires reasonable commuting distance for team leadership.

The person in this leadership role is accountable for the enterprise IT operations, including systems, network, and cloud infrastructure. The Head of IT Operations oversees the IT Support Manager and facilitates teamwork between IT Support Specialists and IT Operations personnel to drive issue resolution through collaboration, training, and proper escalation. This person will be an adept leader of people focused on leading a superior, service-oriented IT Operations team.

The Head of IT Operations is responsible for the effective and efficient operational implementation and maintenance of all third-party and internally managed IT infrastructure used to support business processes across the Harbor family of companies.

The Head of IT Operations works closely with the leadership of the Security Operations Center, Enterprise Systems, Software Development, and Analytics departments to implement and support their requirements and initiatives. This individual will have a diversified background of technology infrastructure, demonstrated project management acumen and excellent vendor management skills.

The Head of IT Operations provides in-depth technical expertise and guidance to the Sr Director of IT for strategic and operational initiatives. This person will have both a depth and breadth of knowledge of all Harbor systems to provide insight and recommendations for strengthening Harbor’s system infrastructure.

Compensation: $130-145K base salary with manager's bonus opportunity

Essential Job Functions:

Develops and oversees the execution of enterprise technology standards, processes, and performance metrics to ensure IT is delivering value and sustainability to the business.
Implements and maintains systems that are well integrated. Utilizes our assets to their fullest capability to extract value and efficiency.
Design, build, and maintain a robust infrastructure that is resilient and has the capacity to support current business requirements with room for expansion.
Implements and monitors security protocols as directed by the Security Operations Center. Provides rapid response to threats and anomalies and is an integral part of our threat escalation path.
Works with IT leaders and business operations teams to ensure coordination of IT changes without impacting business processes.
Works with PMO to implement IT governance on systems. Provides valuable insight and recommendations on IT standards and practices.
Maintains currency on modern technologies and service management practices and provides recommendations on what emerging technologies and methods should be reviewed for integration within the business.
Builds and maintains relationships with other IT leaders to develop a clear understanding of business needs; ensures timely delivery of IT services to meet those needs and can respond with agility to changing business priorities.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Excellent leadership skills, with the ability to fully engage IT Operations on timely delivery of solutions. Demonstrated ability to manage and execute multiple IT initiatives, utilizing team members and third-party resources effectively.
Ability to develop, manage, coach, mentor and reinforce team members in line with the mission, vision, values, goals, and performance standards of formal and informal teams. This individual will build a dedicated team of technologists with an exceptional depth of knowledge of our infrastructure and the flexibility to meet future requirements.
Strong, cross domain, technology acumen and preferably earlier career experience as an individual contributor of a technology team.
Demonstrate the ability to prioritize competing business objectives that ensure the protection and sustainability of the company and meet the changing business priorities and expectations of senior leaders.
Strong vendor management and partner relation skills to identify and leverage internal and external resources to enhance capabilities that support business objectives.
Success in leveraging both traditional practices as well as emerging methods, such as DevOps, that are optimized for agility.
Demonstrate the ability to improve Information and Systems performance through the application of original thinking to existing and emerging methods, processes, products, and services.
Strong budget planning, fiscal management, and resource management skills. Achieves strong ROI (return on investment) on our technical assets.
Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts and technologies to senior leaders, and priorities and objectives to the IT Operations.

Education and Experience:

Master’s degree in computer science, information systems, business administration or related field, or equivalent work experience.
Eight or more years of experience in IT.
Three or more years of leadership experience.
Proven experience in leading technology infrastructure teams in complex and dynamic environments requiring 24/7 support.

License and Certifications:

Attainment of relevant certificates a plus.
Peer networking via involvement in industry groups.
