Dental Specialty Benefits Coordinator/Front Office

Job Description:
The Benefits Coordinator plays a crucial role in our practice by managing patient insurance benefits, facilitating communication between patients and insurance companies, and ensuring accurate billing and reimbursement. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of dental insurance plans, excellent organizational skills, and a high level of customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Verify patient insurance benefits and eligibility prior to appointments.
- Communicate with insurance companies to obtain detailed information regarding coverage, benefits, and pre-authorization requirements.
- Accurately input and update insurance information in the practice management software.
- Educate patients about their insurance coverage, benefits, and financial responsibilities.
- Provide patients with estimates of out-of-pocket costs for procedures.
- Assist patients with insurance-related inquiries and resolve any issues or discrepancies.
- Prepare and submit insurance claims for endodontic services in a timely manner.
- Follow up on unpaid or denied claims, ensuring prompt resolution and payment.
- Post insurance payments and adjustments to patient accounts accurately.
- Discuss financial arrangements and payment options with patients.
- Set up payment plans for patients as needed.
- Collect and process patient payments, including co-pays and deductibles.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including insurance information and communication logs.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA and other regulatory requirements related to patient information and billing practices.
- Stay informed about changes in insurance policies and procedures.
- Assist with front desk duties, including scheduling appointments and answering phone calls, as needed.
- Collaborate with the clinical team to ensure a smooth patient flow and exceptional patient experience.
- Participate in staff meetings and training sessions to stay current with practice policies and procedures.
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate’s degree or certification in healthcare administration or related field preferred.
- Previous experience as a benefits coordinator or in a similar role within a dental or medical practice.
- Strong knowledge of dental insurance plans, billing procedures, and coding.
- Proficient in using practice management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
