PURPOSE:
The role of the Senior Cybersecurity Consultant provides the expertise required to properly scope and deliver cybersecurity assessments and services to our clients. They work closely with our clients and professional services team to deliver security risk assessments that align industry best practices and regulatory requirements. The consultant will identify risks and compliance gaps and prioritize remediation strategies. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Performs cybersecurity risk assessments to identify and document client risks in accordance with industry best practices and regulatory bodies to include (HIPAA, NIST CSF, NIST 800-171, ISO 27001/2, CIS, PCI-DSS, etc)
  • Collaborates with IT resources and key stakeholders from other business units to identify and assess cybersecurity and compliance risks
  • Configures and collects data from client environments through interviews and data collection tools, such as vulnerability scanners
  • Leads project kick-offs and close-out presentations with both Ascend and client stakeholders
  • Effectively communicates risk findings and recommended remediations strategies to both Ascend and client stakeholders 
  • Works closely with the Cybersecurity professional services team to report issues, develop process improvement strategies, document procedures, and ensure service success
  • Other responsibilities assigned by management

MINIMUM SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
  • 5+ Years experience in cybersecurity, and framework alignment (HIPAA, NIST CSF, NIST 800-171, ISO 27001/2, CIS, etc)
  • 5+ Years of strong working knowledge of system, application, network, cloud, and data security best practices
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft 365, Active Directory, and Vulnerability Management Platforms
  • Excellent analytic, problem-solving, active-listening and decision-making skills
  • Excellent presentation, writing, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Comfortable engaging at executive levels to influence and provide strategic insight
  • Experience and/or strong desire to work in a fast-paced environment with evolving conditions
  • One or more of the following certifications or equivalent: CISSP, CISA, CISM, CRISC,  GLSC, GSTRT

PREFERRED SKILLS, EDUCATION OR EXPERIENCE
  • 3+ Years experience in Incident Response and Digital Forensics
  • Industry Specialized Certifications for PCI DSS, HITRUST, etc.
  • Proven success managing vulnerability identification and remediation steps
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, management information systems, information Technology, engineering, mathematics, or a related field
