Job Type : Full TimeLocation : San Diego, CaliforniaPay : Excellent Job Description What you will be doing:
  • Conceptualize, model, analyze, and optimize complex electro-optical systems, especially spectral imagers
  • Translate system/application requirements into imager specifications
  • Design, develop, calibrate, and test optical and electro-optical systems
  • Work with and lead efforts of a team of optical, mechanical, electronic, and software engineers
  • Lead integration and testing efforts of sensor systems and sub-assemblies
  • Perform systems architecture studies and sensor trades
  • Support new business in concept development and proposals
  • Serve as a key contributor to programs as a technical expert and/or as Lead EO Systems Engineer
Experience you will need:
  • U.S. Citizenship required
  • BS in electrical engineering / optics / applied physics with 8+ years of experience, MS in a similar field with 5+ years of experience; PhD in a similar field with 3+ years of industrial work experience
  • Experience in the aerospace/defense industry is desired
  • Working knowledge of UV through LWIR optical systems, camera technology, and design principles/trade-offs
  • Working knowledge in modeling & simulation software such as Matlab, FRED, or equivalent
  • Working knowledge of spectral, polarimetric, spatial, and temporal image processing
  • Knowledge of atmospheric effects and modeling using codes such as Modtran
  • Hands-on lab experience in calibration, radiometric, and image quality measurements
  • Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills for interfacing with senior management, program management, customers, and other engineers
  • Experience with Zemax/CodeV, ModTran, and/or NVtherm/SSCam/NV-IPM is desirable
  • Ability to program in C++ or C# is desirable
