Our client is a leading global provider of photonics solutions, with six U.S. facilities and six more globally. They specialize in advanced manufacturing for the technology, aerospace, and life sciences industries.


They are seeking a talented HR Business Partner to join a dynamic transformation in progress throughout the organization and to be the face of HR at their 170 employee Fremont, CA facility. This is a newly created role designed to elevate the HR function under the direction of a new Chief People Officer.


What You Will Do:

  • Employee Relations Expertise: Serve as the subject matter expert on employee relations and performance management across all U.S. facilities. Act as the primary point of contact for employee investigations, claims, ensuring compliance with company policies and legal requirements.
  • Performance Management & Talent Development: Guide U.S. performance management practices, document and improve processes for talent development, and partner with legal and workers' compensation teams to resolve complex issues.
  • HR Leadership: Be the face of HR at the Fremont facility, overseeing site-specific HR services such as onboarding, culture, and employee engagement initiatives. Work closely with site leadership to foster a positive and productive work environment.
  • Collaboration with HR Team: Partner with five other site HR professionals across the U.S. to ensure consistent and effective HR practices throughout the company. Support the implementation of shared services and a Center of Excellence model, where administrative and tactical HR tasks are handled centrally.
  • Onboarding & Succession Planning: Collaborate with the Fremont site’s new leader to ensure a successful transition and assimilation into the team. Focus on succession planning and knowledge transfer for the facility’s long-tenured employees, many of whom have over 30 years of service.


What We Are Looking For:

  • Experience in Manufacturing: While not required, experience in manufacturing environments is highly valued, especially with an hourly workforce and the unique employee relations challenges it presents.
  • Strong Change Management Skills: Proven ability to lead and manage change in a complex, dynamic environment.
  • Employee Relations Skills: A proactive and approachable demeanor is essential for building engagement and fostering a positive culture at the Fremont site and throughout the organization.
  • Expertise in Labor Law: Strong knowledge of employment and labor law, particularly in California, is crucial for this role.
