Job Description

Overview:

Plans, coordinates, and directs control program designed to ensure continuous production of products consistent with established standards. Conducts audits of production facilities to ensure company standards are maintained and product integrity is preserved.  Consults with management/supervisors and leads to resolve quality, production, efficiency, and utilization problems. Function as an information source to management and various company departments in reference to quality and food safety.

Here's what you'll do:

  • Implement QC programs for fresh-packing facility in accordance with directives from Wonderful Citrus, local, state and federal agencies
  • Confirm that plant quality inspection procedures are properly carried out and assigned work schedules are maintained
  • Evaluate overall product quality by monitoring all product lines via testing and visual inspection
  • Resolve quality issues within packing facility from post-harvest to shipping
  • Evaluate and take corrective action when at all levels of product movement
  • Educate and instruct plant personnel in QC testing, equipment and general sanitation, food safety as well as good housekeeping practices. Ensure these procedures are continuously maintained.
  • Supervise workers engaged in inspection criteria and procedures
  • Ensure associates engaged in inspections are properly trained
  • Provide and oversee inspection activity for product throughout production cycle
  • Provide feedback and implement inspection criteria and procedures

  • Ensure safety of all associates and encourage participation in safety initiatives
  • Adheres to budget and communicates out of budget requirements in a timely manner
  • Supports facility with management of degreening and works closely with operations to schedule fruit rollout and production times
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications

Here's what you'll bring to the table:

  • Bachelor’s Degree Food Science, Industrial Engineering, Business or related field
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a food processing environment and/or combination equivalent education and experience
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Computer literate. Experience with Oracle or other SAP program desired
  • Knowledge of food safety practices and GMPs preferred
  • Must be able to troubleshoot equipment/process problems and propose solutions.  Problem-solving skills are essential to this position.
  • Performs supervisory activities for direct reports, including but not limited to administering wage information and allocations, completing annual performance appraisals, developing and coaching staff as necessary, making staffing decisions, and representing staff interests to department management.\
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization
  • Bilingual, English and Spanish a plus, but not required
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as statistical mean, averages, cycle times, inventory turnover, discounts, interest, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
