Position Summary:

The Quality Systems Supervisor is responsible for planning, coordinating, and directing a comprehensive control program aimed at ensuring the continuous production of products that meet established quality standards. This role involves conducting audits of production facilities to uphold company standards and maintain product integrity. The supervisor will collaborate with management and team leaders to address quality, production, efficiency, and utilization challenges, serving as a key resource for quality and food safety information across various departments.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement quality control programs for the fresh-packing facility in alignment with directives from Wonderful Citrus and regulatory agencies.
  • Ensure that plant quality inspection protocols are executed effectively and that work schedules are adhered to.
  • Assess overall product quality through rigorous testing and visual inspections across all product lines.
  • Address and resolve quality-related issues within the packing facility from post-harvest to shipping stages.
  • Evaluate product movement at all levels and take corrective actions as necessary.
  • Train and guide plant personnel on quality control testing, equipment usage, sanitation, food safety, and housekeeping practices, ensuring these standards are consistently upheld.
  • Supervise inspection teams and ensure proper training for all associates involved in quality inspections.
  • Oversee inspection activities throughout the production cycle and provide constructive feedback on inspection criteria and procedures.
  • Promote a safe working environment and encourage participation in safety initiatives.
  • Manage budget adherence and communicate any budgetary concerns promptly.
  • Assist in the management of degreening processes and collaborate with operations to schedule fruit rollout and production timelines.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Food Science, Industrial Engineering, Business, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in a food processing environment or a combination of education and experience.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in computer applications; experience with Oracle or other SAP programs is preferred.
  • Familiarity with food safety practices and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) is advantageous.
  • Ability to troubleshoot equipment and process issues effectively.
  • Experience in supervisory roles, including performance evaluations and staff development.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is a plus, but not mandatory.
  • Capability to perform mathematical calculations related to statistical analysis, inventory management, and other relevant metrics.
  • Adept at solving practical problems in diverse situations with limited standardization.
