The Safety Specialist will report to the Safety Manager, support the site team, and ensure Strata Clean Energy, LLC complies with all applicable health and safety regulations while enhancing a culture of safety excellence on our sites.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Build strong relationships with all employees to ensure they know current policies, regulations, and processes.
  • Active Safety Champion. Field presence is required 70% of the workday.
  • Assist with training, coaching, and mentoring when resolving at-risk behaviors or noncompliance situations.
  • Participate and occasionally lead weekly Safety Committee meetings.
  • Conduct routine Safety observations to identify error precursors and leading indicators.
  • Document audit findings on EHS Insight and effectively convey information to site leadership.
  • Conducts training as assigned by the Safety Manager to support company EHS Programs.
  • Report all work-related incidents, Near Misses, and Good Catches.
  • Conduct incident investigations for all work-related events and follow the event reporting process.
  • Verify all corrective action and preventive actions are followed.
  • Participates in recommending improvements in processes, design, and procedures.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum of five (5) years of Health and Safety Construction experience. Solar experience is a plus.
  • Valid Driver's License with a clean driving record.
  • High School diploma or equivalent (required)
    Current OSHA 500 (required)
    First Aid and CPR
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, including tact and diplomacy.
    Ability to maintain an established work schedule (including weekends).
    Ability to interact and communicate effectively at all levels and across diverse cultures.
    Ability to maintain confidentiality.
    Demonstrated ability to use standard office software programs, including spreadsheets, databases, word processing, and audiovisual presentations.

Physical Requirements/Work Environment:

  • Ability to walk and perform site inspections 70% of the day. In various environmental conditions (cold, heat, wind, and various forms of precipitation). Also, noise exposure can exceed 85 DB.
  • Lift up to 35 pounds.
  • Perform tasks requiring bending, stooping, kneeling, standing, and walking significant distances.
  • Visual ability (20/20 corrected or uncorrected) to observe and detect signs of danger.
