Position Overview:

The Vice President of Operations will oversee the organization’s ongoing operations and procedures and will be responsible for the efficiency of the business. The position is a key member of the senior management team, reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO). The Vice President of Operations provides the leadership, management, and vision necessary to ensure that the company has the proper operational controls, administrative and reporting procedures, and people systems in place to effectively grow the organization and to ensure financial strength and operating efficiency. The position accomplishes this through a respectful, constructive, and energetic style, guided by the objectives of Inspire Veterinary Partners.

As a member of the leadership team, the Vice President of Operations may not personally always execute the functions above and may delegate responsibility to and/or collaborate with members of the executive team or field leadership organization. Regular functions common in the day-to-day duties of the Vice President of Operations include, but are not limited to:


Roles & Responsibilities:

Business Operations:

  • Design and oversee execution of strategies to meet forecasted growth for 1- and 5-year projections.
  • Collaborate with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to create standard operating procedures, measurement systems, reporting processes and clear role guidelines and expectations for all employees and departments for the purpose of the company executing its plans and having the ability to measure performance.
  • Collaborate with the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to monitor growth targets and hospital performance benchmarks.
  • Partner with Vice President of Medical Operations to establish care guidelines, formulary and medical strategies which achieve a balance of freedom for practitioners to practice quality medicine while adhering to state and federal guidelines and remaining consistent with company goals and expectations.
  • Lead efforts with vendor relationships and contract management
  • Assist with annual business and license filings as needed

Acquisitions:

  • Assist in building strategies for determining benchmarks, managing geographies, and adhering to methodologies that the company will use to seek out hospital acquisition targets and manage the process toward purchase of them.
  • Protect and hold confidential all aspects of contacts with sellers, partners and other stakeholders as well as results and internal data as the company seeks to acquire locations and maintain the integrity of its processes, communications and strategies toward its goals and strategies.

Work Culture:

  • Partner with VP of Human Resources to build and maintain robust recruiting and talent pipelines which serve hospitals and leadership teams.
  • Collaborate with the VP of Human Resources to build innovative talent acquisition and development processes which establish the company as an employer of choice and create a pathway for proactive talent infill and succession planning.

Company Leadership

  • As requested by the CEO, prepare and deliver company updates, serve as a voice of the company for the industry at large and communicate with the veterinary and business media for the purposes of representing the company in the highest regard and protecting the reputation of the brand.
  • Leverage contacts across the veterinary industry for the purpose of enhancing the capabilities, reputation and impact of the company within the veterinary industry.
  • Present to and partner with lending and funding contributors and strategic partners by demonstrating an understanding of the company’s differentiators and articulating the short- and long-term goals for the company.

  • Compensation negotiable based on credentials and experience. The actual salary offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

Requirements:

  • Passion for pets and their health and well-being.
  • Strong business acumen including the ability to analyze components of hospital P&L to determine opportunities for financial growth and manage a budget. General understanding of business financials, analysis, strategic planning, pricing, contract negotiations, revenues, and payroll.

Education and Experience:

  • DVM or bachelor’s degree in business, operations management (or equivalent). MBA Preferred
  • 10-15 years of multi-site management experience required (veterinary or similar field).
  • 7-10 years of experience as a leader of a management team of a rapidly growing business.
  • Background in veterinary health-field and management or medical director or hospital administrator level experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of Veterinary Practice Information Systems is a plus.
  • Certified veterinary practice manager certification a plus (but not required)
  • Moderate proficiency Microsoft Office (including Outlook, Word and Excel) and Teams.
