Position Overview:

The Vice President of Operations plays a crucial role in the leadership team, tasked with managing the operational functions of the museum. This includes overseeing business systems, guest relations, admissions, retail, facility rentals, and human resources.

This position collaborates closely with the CEO to spearhead and execute the strategic initiatives of the Museum.

Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Strategy
- Direct and supervise the Security, Guest Services, and Retail Departments.
- Provide support and direction to the Director of Programs for Education and Rentals/Bars.
- Participate in Leadership and Senior Staff meetings.
- Work alongside the CEO to coordinate the execution and ongoing development of the five-year strategic plan.

Operations Management
- Develop and implement the operational budget for the museum.
- Lead teams through annual budget cycles, reviewing and approving submissions.
- Ensure compliance with all necessary business licenses and permits across departments.
- Contribute to the Museum Capex budget, preparing monthly variance reports for finance committee meetings.
- Oversee inventory management and provide detailed reports on costs and inventory levels.
- Track key performance metrics on a monthly basis for all areas of responsibility.

Security Oversight
- Manage the Security department and conduct annual reviews in partnership with the Chief of Security.
- Ensure adherence to AAM Security Standards for Museums.
- Update the Security Operation Manual and conduct safety drills.

Admissions & Retail Management
- Oversee daily admissions and ticketing operations, ensuring customer service excellence.
- Lead strategies for ticketing and admissions in alignment with the Strategic Plan.
- Manage the Museum Marketplace, focusing on food, beverage, and retail strategies that enhance visitor experience and meet budget goals.

Human Resources
- Plan and execute new employee orientation and onboarding processes.
- Develop and implement HR policies and procedures.
- Assist the CEO in selecting and organizing employee benefits and compensation packages.
- Identify training and development needs for staff and oversee performance review systems.
- Manage employee relations, including complaints and grievances.

Volunteer Management
- Oversee the volunteer management contract, ensuring regular communication and budget adherence.

Programs & Events Oversight
- Supervise the Programming department, ensuring financial evaluations and ROI assessments are conducted.
- Collaborate with key reports to develop business plans that enhance community engagement.

General Skills & Requirements:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent time and project management abilities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and budget management.
- Attention to detail and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $85,000 - $90,000 per year
