Job purpose:

The Janitorial Operations Manager (JOM) directly supervises and leads our janitorial services social enterprise in meeting the highest levels of performance of work to our government and commercial customers. With subject matter expertise and technical experience in contract and project oversight, as well as direct hands on experience in direct work performance, the JOM leads the team in growth and expansion.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Directly supervise and lead our janitorial services business operation presently across 3 states and its continued expansion
  • Responsible for ensuring all contracted services are fulfilled according to contractual specifications to the highest quality levels through hands on training and team development
  • Establish and implement departmental policies, procedures, goals, and objectives, aligning with organizational values and strategic plan and following international service industry standards
  • Prepare contract bids and service inquiry responses and establish price points based on competitive standards
  • Direct and execute new customer/contract start-up in collaboration with business operations
  • Cultivate and develop Regional and Area Managers; provide ongoing guidance and direction
  • Identify performance goals and provide ongoing training, coaching and feedback to all janitorial personnel
  • Financially manage and ensure account/contract profit and productivity goals are met
  • Determine staffing requirements, contract ratio requirements, personnel acquisition, training, and retention processes
  • Implement environmental management sustainability programs following CIMS GBAC
  • Develop Quality Control Plans and customer feedback systems to ensure contract compliance and service quality
  • Directly responsible for compliance with CIMS Certification, OSHA, EPA & DOT standards
  • Manage inventory of operations assets that include consumables, devices, equipment, tools and vehicles
  • Provide hands-on cleaning as needed to include but not limited to stripping and waxing, buffing, carpet cleaning, mopping, and other general cleaning
  • On-Call to respond to emergency needs at agency locations, night, and weekend contracts

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business management or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience of 8 to 10 years
  • Must have at least 4 years multi-site janitorial management/custodial services experience
  • Must have commercial project estimating and quoting experience
  • Professional floor-care experience preferred
  • Experience with management of Federal contracts preferred
  • CIMS and/or Lead Building certification experience preferred
  • Must be proficient in using Microsoft Office Systems and other internet-based industry software
  • Must be able to pass a National Agency Check and acquire Dept. of Defense Common Access Card

Physical Requirements:

  • 50% Regional (multi-state) Travel Required
  • Ability to lift and move materials up to 50 lbs. on an occasional basis
  • Ability to operate equipment, hand tools, and machinery on an occasional basis
  • Prolonged periods of climbing, walking, driving, sitting, standing, lifting, bending and reaching throughout the work environment and travel
