The Front Desk is primarily responsible for greeting and checking patients in and out, updating patient files, answering phones, creating appointments, insurance authorizations, and reviewing patient treatment plans. Some other clerical duties may include but are not limited to faxing and scanning.
General Accountabilities
- Greets patients and obtains pertinent information. Notifies appropriate individuals of patient's arrival. Establishes and maintains digital files and records of patients.
- Answers phones and routes calls. Accurately takes messages when needed.
- Schedules patient appointments, answers general questions, obtains authorizations and pre-authorizations for patient care services from insurance companies. Corresponds with patients general dentists as needed. Processes insurance forms as needed.
- Coordinates submission of appropriate charges to billing department.
- Coordinates hospital cases for doctors and patients when needed.
- Provides assistance in the day-to-day administration of department.
