Introduction:

Are you the kind of engineer who thrives on building seamless pipelines and automating everything that can be automated? Do you have a deep understanding of how to bridge the gap between development and operations, ensuring that software is delivered quickly, reliably, and at scale? If you’re a leader with a passion for creating efficient, high-performing systems, then our client has an exciting opportunity for you. We’re searching for a Head of DevOps (aka The Pipeline Pioneer) to take charge of our DevOps strategy and lead our team to new heights of efficiency and innovation.

Imagine yourself at the forefront of a company that values speed, reliability, and continuous delivery. As the Head of DevOps at our client, you’ll be responsible for shaping our DevOps culture, optimizing our CI/CD pipelines, and ensuring that our infrastructure is as robust as it is scalable. This role is not just about managing infrastructure—it’s about leading a team of DevOps engineers to build a world-class environment where development and operations work in perfect harmony.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. DevOps Strategy Leader:
  • Define and implement a comprehensive DevOps strategy that aligns with our company’s goals. You’ll create a roadmap that ensures our CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure, and operations are optimized for speed, reliability, and scalability.
  • Team Leadership and Development:
    • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of DevOps engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement. You’ll ensure that your team is equipped to handle the challenges of a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
  • Pipeline and Automation Architect:
    • Design and optimize CI/CD pipelines to ensure that code is delivered quickly and reliably. You’ll automate processes wherever possible, reducing manual intervention and increasing efficiency across the board.
  • Infrastructure Management:
    • Oversee the management and scaling of our cloud infrastructure, ensuring it is secure, resilient, and able to handle increasing loads. You’ll be responsible for maintaining a balance between performance, cost, and reliability.
  • Process Improvement Champion:
    • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices that enhance team productivity and system reliability. You’ll streamline workflows, introduce new tools and technologies, and ensure that our DevOps processes are cutting-edge.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:
    • Work closely with development, QA, and IT teams to ensure seamless integration of DevOps practices into the software development lifecycle. You’ll be the bridge between these teams, ensuring that communication is clear and that everyone is working towards the same goals.
  • Security and Compliance Steward:
    • Ensure that all DevOps practices meet the highest standards of security and compliance. You’ll implement security best practices across our pipelines and infrastructure, ensuring that our systems are protected against threats.

Requirements

Required Skills:

  • DevOps Mastery: Extensive experience in DevOps practices, including CI/CD, infrastructure as code (IaC), and cloud management. You should be comfortable with tools like Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, and AWS/GCP.
  • Leadership Excellence: Proven experience leading and mentoring DevOps teams, with a track record of delivering reliable, scalable systems. You’re the kind of leader who can inspire and guide a team to achieve its best work.
  • Automation Expertise: Deep understanding of automation tools and practices, with a passion for reducing manual processes and increasing efficiency. You’re always looking for ways to make systems faster, more reliable, and easier to manage.
  • Infrastructure Know-How: Strong background in managing cloud infrastructure, with experience in scaling systems to meet growing demands. You understand the intricacies of cloud environments and how to optimize them for performance and cost.
  • Communication Skills: Exceptional ability to communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. You make complex ideas understandable and ensure that everyone is aligned with the DevOps vision.
  • Humor: A great sense of humor, because we believe in fostering a work environment that is both productive and enjoyable. If you can keep the team smiling during a tough deployment, you’re our kind of leader.

Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. Equivalent experience with a proven track record in DevOps leadership is also valued.
  • Certifications in AWS, GCP, Kubernetes, or other relevant technologies are a plus. If you’ve contributed to open-source DevOps projects or published technical papers, that’s a bonus.

Experience Requirements:

  • 8+ years of experience in DevOps or related fields, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership role such as DevOps Manager, Lead DevOps Engineer, or similar. You’ve successfully led teams that have built and maintained robust, scalable infrastructure.
  • Proven experience in building and optimizing CI/CD pipelines, with a strong focus on automation and process improvement.
  • Experience with cloud platforms like AWS, GCP, or Azure, and a solid understanding of modern infrastructure tools like Terraform, Ansible, and Kubernetes.
