We are seeking a Section 508 Compliance Analyst to provide support in managing, consulting and ensuring information and communication technology activities integrate appropriately with Section 508 compliance across the IT and acquisition lifecycles for the OCIO Customer Engagement Office in support of the NASA Enterprise Multimedia and Integrated Technical Services (eMITS) contract. eMITS is the Agency’s enterprise-level contract creating and delivering multimedia and technical communications through the use of the internet, digital platforms, and IT management for NASA’s Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) and Office of Communications (OCOMM). From photographing rocket launches and recoveries,  to producing engaging videos, to information technology management, to using social media to share NASA’s message, eMITS integrates services for NASA IT and provides NASA’s communication to the outside world. JOB DESCRIPTION / FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assess information and communication technology (ICT) for compliance with the latest versions(s) of Section 508 standards.
  • Obtain Accessibility Conformance Reports (ACR) from original equipment manufacturers (OEM).
  • Review ACRs to evaluate requested products conform to the Revised Section 508 Standards.
  • Facilitate meetings with OEMs to assist with the facilitation of the completion of ACRs.
  • Advise customers on criteria within ACRs where standards are only partially or not fully supported and provide recommendations to alternative products that will meet the customer’s needs.
  • Participate and collaborate in discussions with NASA to determine alternative products that meet customers’ needs and obtain approvals to deviate from strategically sourced products that may not meet Section 508 standards.
  • Maintain and manage documents in a NASA-provided repository or system.
  • Track all Section 508 Compliance Review Requests through their lifecycles.
  • Develop and deliver Section 508 Compliance Review Request reports.
  • Provide data used for Section 508 reporting, compliance audits, annual reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Provide training and support to staff on accessibility standards and best practices.
  • Stay updated on the latest accessibility trends, tools, and technologies.
    

EDUCATION AND PREVIOUS WORK REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field preferred. 8 years’ experience. Equivalent work experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience related to Section 508 compliance.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Strong understanding of Section 508 Conformance standards and accessibility guidelines.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to provide clear and concise feedback.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to quality.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Lync, Teams, OneNote, One Drive), SharePoint, and Box.
  • Experience obtaining Voluntary Product Accessibility Templates and Accessibility Conformance Reports from original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).
  • Experience assessing information and technology compliance for Section 508 standards.
  • -Experience working in a collaborative environment with cross-functional teams.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certification in accessibility (e.g., IAAP Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies) is preferred but not required.
  • Proficiency in using accessibility testing tools and assistive technologies.
  • Previous experience in a similar role within a government or large enterprise environment.
Salary Range is: $93K to $102K
