Primary Purpose:

The Facilities Manager is responsible for maintaining all buildings and grounds, directing staff and overseeing the upkeep of equipment and supplies. The Facilities Manager will make sure the buildings and grounds are well maintained by managing, daily and weekly cleaning schedules as well as including but not limited to, determining and scheduling repairs, mowing, landscaping, renovation projects, waste reduction improvements and safety inspections. The Facilities Manager will have direct reports including maintenance and groundskeeping crews but will be required to be hands on in upkeep.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serves as liaison with contractors, architects, engineers, material and equipment suppliers, and other parties as required.
  • Ensures all gas, appliances, gas lines, water lines, and electrical equipment is inspected and maintained.
  • Develops facility operations and maintenance schedules/plans.
  • Responsible for ensuring all equipment including trucks, forklifts, generators, and other operational equipment are maintained and serviced regularly.
  • Oversees the cleaning and maintenance of the facilities.
  • Oversees the landscape of the facilities, mowing, and flowerbeds.
  • Prepares reports documenting operations and maintenance performance.
  • Ensure all security equipment is operating properly.
  • Responsible for procuring all cubicles and office equipment necessary for employees.
  • Preparing tender documents for contractors.
  • Project management and supervising and coordinating work of contractors and other parties as required.
  • Calculating and comparing costs for required goods or services to achieve maximum value for money.
  • Planning for future facility/warehouse expansion to meet strategic business objectives.
  • Ensuring the building meets health and safety requirements as required by the state and local municipalities.
  • Planning best allocation and utilization of space and resources for new buildings or re-organizing current premises.
  • Responding appropriately to emergencies or urgent issues as they arise and the aftereffect.

Education and/or Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Forklift Operation, Forklift Maintenance, Diesel Mechanic, and Generator Repair certification is preferred.
  • One or more years of experience in a supervisory maintenance role.
  • Experience with Microsoft O365 and NetSuite (for expenses).
  • Mig welding is recommended but not required.
  • Diesel and/or natural gas electrical generator experience is a plus.
  • Experience in basic trade skill sets is preferred (i.e., carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, mechanical).
