Position Summary:
The Facilities Assistant is responsible for performing essential maintenance tasks and general support functions within the organization. This role includes ensuring that all equipment and facilities are safe, clean, and well-organized, while also addressing any safety issues or violations that may arise.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Core Competencies
• Takes ownership of ensuring that performance aligns with professional, ethical, and relevant legal standards.
• Upholds the core values of the organization.
2. Maintenance Duties
• Conducts minor repair tasks, such as fixing doors, locks, door frames, and handles, along with replacing light bulbs, painting, and performing light carpentry.
• Executes basic plumbing tasks, including clearing clogged drains and repairing leaking faucets and toilets.
• Identifies and troubleshoots faults in equipment to maintain functionality.
3. Facilities Management
• Aids in the relocation and setup of materials, equipment, and furniture as necessary at various locations.
• Prepares and organizes meeting rooms prior to scheduled events and ensures proper cleanup/reset afterward.
• Monitors and maintains cleanliness across all facilities, including restrooms.
• Performs light cleaning duties as needed in common areas such as lobbies and exteriors.
• Restocks supplies, including those for water coolers and vending machines.
4. Reporting and Development
• Maintains inventory records for each department and/or location.
• Participates in all mandatory meetings and training sessions as directed by the supervisor.
Education Requirements:
• High School diploma is required.
Skills and Knowledge:
• Must possess a valid driver's license.
Physical Demands:
This position requires moderate physical activity, including heavy lifting (up to 70 lbs) and extended periods of standing or walking.
• Regular activities include standing, sitting, talking, hearing, and using hands for operating computers and telephones.
• Specific vision abilities are necessary for close work on computers.
Work Environment:
The work environment is typically moderate in noise, similar to a business office setting with computers and light traffic.
• The role may require working in confined spaces and sitting at a computer for extended periods.
Travel Requirements:
Occasional driving during work hours and local or out-of-state travel may be necessary to fulfill job responsibilities.
