This key role will be responsible for managing the IT team and technology operations for a real estate organization owning multifamily and commercial real estate assets. The Vice President will be responsible for all technology, systems and data of the organization including the network infrastructure at both the corporate office as well as all owned properties, all cloud applications, and platforms, Yardi ERP, cyber security and PropTech. In addition, the VP will oversee of exploring and integrating existing and new technologies into all aspects of the business by understanding complex technologies at a high level, communicating in a simple and effective manner, and also going hands-on with technology and contributing where needed. This role may oversee up to 3 direct reports and should be prepared to manage several outsourced vendors for service delivery and support. A strong emphasis will be placed on partnering with Executives in the business to enable best-in-class property technologies and tenant experiences. We have a hybrid work model with the expectation of 4 days minimum in the DC corporate office to collaborate, innovate, and celebrate

Key requirements and responsibilities associated with this position are:

  • Work and communicate effectively with the Executive Team to drive technology innovation within the organization.
  • Develop and execute on a roadmap for technology integration within the business, for use at properties, and to drive efficiency.
  • Create and maintain a budget for IT related operations and capital expenditures, with the ability to identify areas for cost savings and efficiencies.
  • Develop and maintain all necessary policies, procedures, systems, and controls, including but not limited to cyber security, disaster recovery, end-user computing and experience, property technology and systems.
  • Foster the use of data with tools and systems, build and enhance technologies like a Data Warehouse, BI tools, AI, etc.
  • Effectively manage the IT team members and several outsourced vendors.
  • Evaluate, contract and review performance of outsourced vendors, support staff and impact of their costs to operations.
  • Be able to benchmark different services and their related total cost of ownership for the business.
  • Build and mature a cyber security program that is appropriate for the businesses needs while reducing risk.
  • Create processes to standardize the use of technology.
  • Strong skills supporting and managing a team over multiple technology areas, including networking (Cisco Meraki), cloud platforms and productivity tools (Microsoft Azure and Office 365), and our core ERP/Accounting system Yardi.
  • Maintain a culture within the IT group of service first.
  • Evaluate and recommend new technologies to all business units, helping drive efficiency and quality within the organization.
  • Build strategic partnerships with vendors, peers and industry members to leverage and benchmark the companies IT goals and initiatives.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology or related field.
  • Real estate industry knowledge and experience preferred.
  • Proven ability to effectively motivate and manage small teams and leverage outsourced partners.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of relevant experience, including managing a team.
  • Demonstrated success within a complex organization with multiple divisions and asset types, deploying technologies for various use cases and areas of expertise.
  • High level of understanding for Yardi and related platforms.
  • Experience with Microsoft cloud technologies (365 and Azure).
  • Prior experience building and maturing cyber security posture for an organization.
  • Strong understanding and working knowledge of multi-site networking and cloud connectivity.
  • Working knowledge of databases, BI tools, reporting; experience enabling AI is a plus.
  • Ability to multi-task, work independently and delegate in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Very detail oriented.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

The market-based pay range for this role is $190,000 to $210,000 annually (plus additional bonus incentives). The final salary offered will generally fall within this range and is dependent on various factors including but not limited to the responsibilities of the position, experience, skill set, internal pay equity and other relevant qualifications of the applicant.
