Job Overview
The Manager of Medical Communication and Information will play a crucial role in managing and overseeing the creation, review, and dissemination of clinical and medical information. This individual will be responsible for performing medical accuracy review of Promotional Materials containing medical content for assigned products as needed and for responding and managing Medical Information Inquiries from External Health Care professionals. They will also be responsible for proofreading and publishing scientific papers, ensuring the accuracy and clarity of all medical communications, and maintaining a consistent message across all channels. The role requires a deep understanding of medical terminology, excellent writing and editing skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders.

Job Responsibilities and Essential Duties
  • Content Creation and Management:
    • Oversee the development, proofreading, and editing of scientific and medical publications, including research papers, abstracts, posters, and presentations.
    • Ensure all medical content is accurate, clear, and compliant with regulatory and company standards.
    • Collaborate with medical writers, researchers, and external authors to facilitate the publication process.
    • Helps drafting communications to Health Care Providers Regarding Scientific Information on Unapproved Uses of Approved/Cleared Medical Products Questions and Answers.
    • Evaluates innovative ways to scientific content creation
    • Research, evaluate and summarize the published medical and scientific literature for assigned products
  • Communication Strategy:
    • Develop and implement communication strategies to effectively disseminate scientific and medical information to internal and external audiences.
    • Maintain consistency in messaging and ensure alignment with the company's overall communication strategy.
  • Medical inquiries:
    • Respond to verbal and written medical inquiries from internal and external customers related to later-stage, post-launch products
    • Preview standard medical response letters and revises or develops new letters as needed. Proactively develop medical response documents.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration:
    • Work closely with the Medical Affairs team, including medical directors, scientists, and the Chief Medical Officer, to gather and verify information.
    • Coordinate with the marketing and public relations teams to align medical communications with broader company messaging.
  • Proofreading and Quality Control:
    • Perform meticulous proofreading and editing of all medical content to ensure grammatical accuracy, clarity, and consistency.
    • Implement quality control measures to ensure all publications meet high standards of excellence.
  • Promotional and Scientific Materials:
    • Manage the preparation and submission of medical content to the Medical, Legal, and Regulatory (MLR) and Scientific Material Review process.
    • Perform medical accuracy review of promotional materials containing medical content
    • Ensure all content complies with regulatory and company standards before submission.
    • Track and manage feedback from reviewers and implement necessary revisions.
  • Publication Management:
    • Manage the submission process for scientific publications, including coordinating with journals, conferences, and other publication venues.
    • Track and report on the status of submissions, revisions, and approvals.
  • Training and Support:
    • Provide training and support to team members on best practices for scientific writing and communication.
    • Develop and maintain resources, such as style guides and templates, to assist with the creation of medical content.
  • Regulatory Compliance:
    • Ensure all communications comply with relevant regulatory requirements and ethical standards.
    • Stay updated on industry guidelines and best practices for medical and scientific communication.

Minimum Requirements
  • Advanced degree in a scientific or medical field (e.g., MD, NP, PhD, PharmD) preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in medical writing, scientific communication, or a related field.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Proven track record of publishing scientific papers and managing medical communication projects.
  • Experience in a medical affairs environment within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry is highly desirable. Specifically experience in Medical Information response creation processes, content management systems and technologies for scientific content
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
  • Strong understanding of medical terminology and scientific concepts.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in using publication management software and other relevant tools.
  • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
