JOB SUMMARY: The Medical Assistant (MA) Manager’s responsibilities include the oversight of the Medical Assistant team within the organization as well as implementation and oversight of the Medical Assistant Apprenticeship program. The MA manager may serve as a site manager as needed, facilitates/coordinates safe, high quality clinical care, treatment, services, and workflows for the organization in collaboration with Senior Management, and other clinical managers and support staff. The MA manager is responsible for designing, teaching, evaluating, and executing educational programs for clinical teams

Supervision/Management of Medical Assistant Staff, Medical Assistant Lead
Supervision/Management of Clinical Administrative Assistant
Oversight of Medical Assistant Apprenticeship program
Oversight of Clinical Education
Other: Works closely with the Nurse and Care Coordination Manager and Staff Educator
RESPONSIBILITIES & AUTHORITIES:

Oversight of Medical Assistant staff to include hiring, coaching, mentoring, discipline, and evaluation.
Responsible for the oversight of coordination, scheduling and coverage of Medical Assistants ensuring adequate coverage for operating hours.
Ensures sufficient staffing resources are hired, trained and competency assessed including per diem staff.
Responsible for the implementation and oversight of the Medical Assistant Apprenticeship program.
Programs include the orientation of new employees, in-service education relevant to the setting, and continuing education offerings which are expected to maintain and/improve competency and work performance. Education should include customer service and teamwork, and other soft skills as may be deemed necessary by the leadership team.
Establish and maintain a system of health education for staff, to include educational materials, developing healthcare contacts in the community and acting as a liaison with agencies.
Develop individual and group education classes, to include staff in-services. Assist other disciplines to do basic healthcare education within their particular areas of interest and expertise.
Training for clinical staff, which may include orientation to new clinical functions such as equipment, or ongoing training in specific areas such as immunizations and refugee issues (examples only).
Acts a clinical resource The Staff Educator is a clinical expert with abilities to foster the clinical development of the staff that she/he guides. This individual will be responsible to assess the educational needs of the staff on an on-going basis and to serve as a resource/coach for the clinical leadership team.
Develops and oversees monthly education calendar.
Ensure that staff has knowledge and materials necessary to provide patient care. Works in tandem with managers to coordinate education and research resources to fill in those gaps.
Responsible for the implementation and oversight of the Medical Assistant Clinical Ladder program.
Management of departmental budgets including monitoring of overtime and timely completion of timesheets.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Training: bachelor’s degree in health care science, Health Care Administration or Nursing required. CCMA certification required.
Management/supervisory experience required; Medical Assistant experience required.
BLS certification required.
BLS Instructor preferred. Instructor certification required within one year of hire.
Experience in utilization of EMR and PM systems.
Prefer experience in an ambulatory health care environment.
Ability to communicate clearly, ability to use various teaching approaches to meet the needs of different learning styles, knowledge of medical assistant clinical core functions. Change management training and experience desirable.
