Pay Range: $23.65 - $33.11 / hour


GENERAL PURPOSE

The Recreation Program Coordinator serves at the pleasure and under the general supervision of the Recreation Manager and is responsible for designated recreational programs in the city.


FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES

  • Plan, implement sporting leagues tournaments and activities as directed.
  • Staff the programs and activities of designated recreational programs.
  • Supervise, train and evaluate recreation program staff members.
  • Plan, implement and evaluate the program budgets.
  • Keep accurate records and information.
  • Coordinate youth and adult recreation activities.
  • Provide daily reports, incident reports, waiver release forms and rosters.
  • Communicate with the public to assess and meet their recreational interests and needs.
  • Produce marketing and information materials for the Recreation Department.
  • Assist the Recreation Manager as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS


  • This position may require use of personal or City vehicles on City business. Individuals must be physically capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess a valid driver's license and have a good driving record.

Education:

  • College degree in Recreation Management or related field preferred.
  • Graduation from High School or equivalent required.

Experience:

  • One (1) - three (3) years of related experience.

Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of rules and conduct of various community sports programs
  • Knowledge of general supervisory and managerial principles and practices.

Skills/Abilities:

  • Skill in communicating effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Great public relations and customer service skills.
  • Be able to establish and organize schedules, activities, and coordinate facilities within the city.
  • Be able to organize and schedule special events.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Good problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a team setting.

WORKING CONDITIONS


  • Working conditions may vary.
  • Work is performed both indoors and outdoors, at various times of the day and in various weather conditions.
  • No significantly hazardous conditions exist.
