Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Recreation Therapist to join our team at the State of California. As a Recreation Therapist, you will be responsible for developing and conducting therapeutic recreation and leisure activities for patients in a correctional facility setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement therapeutic recreation programs for patients, including individual and group activities
  • Conduct assessments to identify patient needs and develop individualized treatment plans
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure patient care and treatment plans are aligned
  • Supervise and train staff on recreation therapy techniques and procedures
  • Monitor and maintain a safe and healthy environment for patients and staff
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Recreation Therapy or related field
  • Current certification as a Recreation Therapist by the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification, Inc. (NCTRC)
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in recreation therapy, preferably in a correctional setting
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks
